It's great to see our new AL50 in action! Thank you to all of the teams involved for your hard work before, during, and after this successful transport.
The sun was shining as an unusual sight took to the roads in East Sussex yesterday. Two large sections of electrical equipment made its way in convoy from Shoreham Port to the site of the National Grid’s new substation at Little Horsted. Weighing 170 tonnes each and moving at a top speed of 12mph, the convoy made steady progress throughout the day, thanks to the combined efforts of Allely’s, National Highways, Brighton & Hove City Council and Sussex Police. Our teams were on hand to help the convoy once it left the A27 at the Southerham Roundabout, passing through the Cuilfail Tunnel, on to the A26, and then A22 towards Little Horsted. Where needed, lights, bollards or anything else that might get in the way of this mega load were removed to keep it on its important journey. Once passed, everything was returned to usual. Thank you to everyone for your patience and positive feedback.
