As our first 20-year celebration post what better place to start than the beginning. David Allen & Matthew Scott set up Allen Scott back in 2000, bringing together their experience of working at a range of practices, delivering projects across both the UK and the Middle East. “𝖤𝗏𝖾𝗋𝗒𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝖿𝖾𝗅𝗅 𝗂𝗇𝗍𝗈 𝗉𝗅𝖺𝖼𝖾; 𝗐𝖾 𝗐𝖾𝗋𝖾 𝖻𝗈𝗍𝗁 𝗅𝗈𝗈𝗄𝗂𝗇𝗀 𝖿𝗈𝗋 𝖺 𝗇𝖾𝗐 𝖼𝗁𝖺𝗅𝗅𝖾𝗇𝗀𝖾 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝗐𝖺𝗇𝗍𝖾𝖽 𝗍𝗈 𝖽𝗈 𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗇𝗀𝗌 𝖽𝗂𝖿𝖿𝖾𝗋𝖾𝗇𝗍𝗅𝗒 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁 𝖺 𝗆𝗈𝗋𝖾 𝗁𝖺𝗇𝖽𝗌-𝗈𝗇, 𝗍𝖾𝖺𝗆-𝖿𝗈𝖼𝗎𝗌𝖾𝖽 𝖺𝗉𝗉𝗋𝗈𝖺𝖼𝗁 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝖺𝖻𝗂𝗅𝗂𝗍𝗒 𝗍𝗈 𝗆𝖺𝗄𝖾 𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗄 𝗈𝗇 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗐𝗈𝗋𝗅𝖽.” One of the first projects was Staines High Street, a public realm project which looked to pedestrianise the street and enhance the connection between the new and existing shopping malls. Concept designs were developed and we led on extensive consultation and public exhibitions to test and get feedback on our ideas, which gathered widespread support from local residents and stakeholders. We then collaborated with a wide range of consultants, specialists and artists to deliver the proposals. Banners and public art were used as magnets to draw people along the high street, and there was a particular focus on making spaces legible and adaptable, particularly for markets and the nighttime economy, with lighting used to enhance key historic and architectural buildings. “𝖲𝗍𝖺𝗂𝗇𝖾𝗌 𝗐𝖺𝗌 𝖺 𝗌𝗉𝖾𝖼𝗂𝖺𝗅 𝗉𝗋𝗈𝗃𝖾𝖼𝗍 𝗂𝗇 𝗂𝗍𝗌𝖾𝗅𝖿, 𝖻𝗎𝗍 𝖺𝗅𝗌𝗈 𝖻𝖾𝖼𝖺𝗎𝗌𝖾 𝗂𝗍 𝗁𝖾𝗅𝗉𝖾𝖽 𝗎𝗌 𝗌𝗍𝖺𝗋𝗍 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝖼𝗈𝗆𝗉𝖺𝗇𝗒. Fantastic photos shared from the Cake Industries workshop, courtesy of Karl Singporewala RIBA RWA and his latest artwork. We are extremely excited to see Karl's 'Keki's Fusion' installed later this year alongside the delivery of the pilot Superhub bus stop and micro-park as part of the next phase of Manor Royal BID projects to be delivered! #collaboration #artwork #landscapearchitecture #ManorRoyalBID
A bit of a wow from the workshop. Courtesy of Karl Singporewala RIBA RWA (artist/designer) and Cake Industries (fabricator). Who is Keki? What is Keki's Fusion? What are you going to do with it? It's so exciting to see this taking shape as part of plans to deliver a new park area attached to the first superhub bus stop site in Manor Royal BID. It will literally elevate and enhance the area creating new visual interest amongst new and improved facilities in the middle of the busy and slowly changing Business District. Thanks to the Crawley Town Deal, the Crawley Growth Programme and partners Crawley Borough Council, West Sussex County Council, Allen Scott and Waterman Group - much more to come in this, the 75th year since Manor Royal was named. https://lnkd.in/dZKvVTt Chris Oxlade Samantha Bertie Helen McLaren Nigel Tidy Clem Smith Lynn Hainge Nick Burrell Amanda Smith Edburton Contractors Ltd Marc Tomes Matthew Scott Frankie Stevens Juliet Harshaw

It’s really good to see that works have started on the new Horam Hun along the Cuckoo Trail in Wealden. This project has been in the making since 2022 when the Council successfully received UKSPF funding and from the outset worked with Marc Tomes and Allen Scott on the Cuckoo Trail masterplan. Well done to everyone involved🚴🥾
Work has began on the creation of the new Horam Hub, along the Cuckoo Trail, which will see a kiosk cafe and toilets built on the old platform of the former Railway Station and new landscaping. We at the council are working in partnership with Sharpe Architecture, UK government, Made by Landmark and others. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March. #HoramHub #CuckooTrail #Wealden #Horam

Today we're joining The National Lottery Heritage Fund in celebrating #HeritageTreasures, showcasing the amazing and diverse heritage across the UK! We've had the pleasure of working on numerous National Heritage funded greenspace projects over the years, collaborating with experts and delving into the historical context of what makes each place unique in their own right. Many of these have been at risk from varying social, economic and environmental pressures, particularly as our climate continues to change, and therefore required a careful and detailed approach in our baseline investigations to ensure that we succeed in protecting heritage for present and future generations to experience and enjoy. Some of the Heritage Treasures we're celebrating today include: Image 1/2 - Revitalisation of Grosvenor and Hilbert Park, Tunbridge Wells, designed by Robert Marnock in 1889 - including restoration of the Grotto and Victorian Lake. Image 3 - Masterplan and delivery of the Harlow Town Park restoration, originally designed by Dame Sylvia Crowe in 1963-4. Image 4 - Full scale restoration of Boston Manor Park which surrounds the Grade I listed Jacobean house. Image 5/6 - We are currently in the detail phase for the Royal Pavilion Garden, Brighton, one of the last remaining Regency gardens in the UK designed by John Nash with gardener William Aiton. This received planning permission last year in order to create 'A Garden fit for a King'. #heritagelandscape #landscapearchitecture #greenspace #NHLF

We are delighted that ‘The Waterways’ has been selected as a 2025 Civic Trust Awards: Regional Finalist, and a 2025 Selwyn Goldsmith Awards for Universal Design: Regional Finalist! The Waterways project in Great Yarmouth focused on the comprehensive restoration and enhancement of this historic landscapes and attraction, breathing life back into this important part of the regions heritage. Works looked to ensure long-term sustainability through community engagement and modern amenities, involving repairs to the boating lake's concrete structure, revitalising themed gardens, and restoring ornamental features as well as enhancing accessibility with new ramps and lifts. The before & after images show how drastic and detailed the transformation has been! Primarily funded through the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project has been a collaborative effort involving a wide range of professionals, specialists, artists, and extends to local colleges for trainee and volunteer involvement - ensuring skill development and community engagement. Since its completion the volunteer groups have been continually active, and recently earned another Green Flag award for the park. Thank you to CIVIC TRUST AWARDS, we look forward to finding out the winners next year.
