Authored by Ella Smith and Craig Robertson, this study challenges the industry standard approach to the design, construction, and marketing of speculative office space, and examines whole life carbon impact of Cat A fit out related to tenant lease cycles. NEWS: 50 Baker Street Receives Planning On Tuesday August 6th, AHMM’s proposals for the redevelopment of 50 Baker Street and the surrounding public realm received resolution to grant planning approval from Westminster City Council. The site at 38-70 Baker Street forms the last remaining undeveloped strategic city block site within the Baker Street District and is a joint venture between Derwent London and Lazari Investments, working with the Portman Estate. The proposals deliver on a shared ambition to deliver highly sustainable, future proofed and adaptable buildings, and has been designed to achieve ambitious upfront carbon targets, have low in-use operational energy and maximise natural ventilation. An extensive carbon analysis was undertaken in order to ensure that the proposal has a lower overall carbon figure than a retrofit and refurbishment alternative. ✅ The Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Summer School 2024 We had an amazing time with 18 young people joining us last week to explore the topic: the rights of children and young people in the city. It’s a BIG endeavour with 35+ AHMMers: acting as mentors, contributing their specialist knowledge to the programme (including sustainability, architectural drawing and model making, digital design) and making sure everything goes super smooth. This year we also had some lovely contributions from external guests too: 🙏 Narrative Practice Dhruv Gulabchande Chickenshed Theatre Ian Hunter Royal College of Art interior design students Tahmineh Hooshyar Emami Looking forward to hearing from the young people whether their week with us has increased their interest in studying architecture (or not)
