For the fourth episode of our series 'The Faces of Alvine', we talk to our Benelux expert Aarnout Snouck, whose investment banking career spans almost four decades across capital markets, asset management and derivatives for organisations such as J.P. Morgan, Credit Suisse and finally AXA Investment Managers, where he set up the hedge fund business. Many thanks to Sarah Clark for shooting and producing this video. #assetmanagement #benelux #assetraising #privatemarkets #privateequity #privatedebt #alternativeinvesting

For a long time in Europe, investment and ownership in sport has been the domain of the extraordinarily wealthy; billionaires paying up for trophy-assets in an ostentatious display of success or the pursuit of a childhood dream. Of course, legacies have been built, with successful teams becoming household names worth billions, yet the prospect of relegation has always ensured a significant financial risk for those without seemingly endless reserves. Across the pond, however, attitudes have been different. American sports leagues have, since their inception, implemented franchise league structures, which ensure territorial monopoly and the absence of regulation. This certainty around membership has built a moat for owners driving uninterrupted value creation over many years. As technological advances broaden this entertainment to a global audience, and US franchises begin to open the door to institutional capital, we have seen private equity transactions within the realm of sport increasingly dominate the headlines. In our most recent thought-piece, Robert May, CAIA explores what is driving this growth, the differences between investing in either the US or Europe, and ultimately, where we think you should be looking in order to access this exciting and engaging asset class. While deal volumes in the private equity industry fell in 2023, the insurance sector saw a 35% increase in private investments at the same time. Amidst this popularity, operational value creation is key to generate outsized returns within Insurance. One of these key focus areas is Human Capital : the ability to acquire and retain talent is a strong competitive advantage in a sector where wisdom of experience and client relationships are critical. Private Debt strategies have started to gather momentum among Private Wealth as high-net-worth individuals and family offices are looking to preserve and grow their wealth outside traditional investment options. In tandem, GPs face slower-paced fundraising from LPs, leading them to seek alternative funding. As private credit wins more and more market share away from the liquid credit market, family offices turn to private assets to further diversify their debt exposure, where they’ll find a source of steady, predictable income – read more about the appeal to family offices here. #privatedebt #privatemarkets #alternativeassets #wealthmanagement #placementagent https://lnkd.in/g2ucnHKF
