AMBREY – GUARDIAN: RED SEA - War risk insurance premiums have risen significantly across the board as the industry has struggled to keep pace with the broadening of Houthi targets, the complexity of affiliation checks and scale required, and the risk of collateral damage to all merchant vessels from debris as warships have shot down UAVs and missiles overhead. - Houthis have broadened their attacks, to include vessels that are bound for Israel or whose parent companies have co-operated with Israel – false targeting remains possible. - Armed guards successfully assisted in repelling one of the recent Houthi attacks, following RUF, and they have been effective in the past against Somali pirates. - There are assessed to be two active Somali Pirate Action Groups in the Indian Ocean: One hijacked a merchant vessel outside the JWC Listed Area and east of most vessel-borne armouries – there were no armed guards onboard. 👀 Houthis ruthlessly once again own the headlines. 📰 💥 💥 💥 3 x separate vessel attacks took place across the South Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. ⚠️ Potentially expanding the Houthi operation into a 6th phase. ⛔️ During the attacks, the Houthis showed that they will use multiple layers and systems during an attack. ⚠️ Marketing material was released following their ‘new’ Unmanned Underwater Vessel (UUV), which, if successful, would be a worrying capability. #maritimesecurity #maritimesafety

⚠️ Haiti 🇭🇹 Gangs are their own worst enemy as vessels and port infrastructure continue to get shot at. ☠️ Haiti’s gangs control more than 85% of Port-au-Prince and parts of the Artibonite region 💥 Gangs continue to fire into the Port-au-Prince bay and port equipment as ships approach port. “We have mobilised to provide a response in the bay of Port-au-Prince and on the periphery,” says the director of the Haiti National Port Authority. ⛴️ 🏥 With the airports and ports still under threat, the ability to bring food or medical supplies into the country will only make the situation worse. ❌ The United Nations 🇺🇳 Security Council reports that around 1 million people have been displaced since the outbreak last year. #maritimesecurity #maritimesafety

🤷♂️ Who benefits from an all-out war in the Middle East? No one….Following an Iranian 🇮🇷 missile attack on Israel 🇮🇱 on the 1st of October 2024, Israel vowed retaliation. 💥 ⚠️ Over recent days, reports have emerged of tankers, typically anchored off Iran’s Kharg Island, distancing themselves from the terminal. Iran’s naval assets in Bandar Abbas have reportedly been put to sea. Both moves indicated a perceived risk of Israeli attacks against Iran’s oil export infrastructure and ports/naval bases. 🚫Iran would move to choke the Strait of Hormuz with additional pressure applied by the Houthis in the Red Sea… the strain on global supply and demand would unfold quickly. #maritimesecurity #maritimesafety
