As Storm Eowyn unleashed its fury across the UK, our priority was clear: safety first for Service families and our teams delivering reactive and planned maintenance across our defence housing contracts. Following the Red Warning issued across Northen Ireland and Central Scotland by the Met Office, we activated a Silver Command structure, dismantling scaffolding in high-risk areas and ensuring engineers in red zones were stood down to keep everyone safe in the affected areas. Regular updates, clear communication and joint messaging kept families informed and reassured throughout the storm. Technology played a key role in our response. Using TechSee we virtually assessed urgent jobs in dangerous areas providing support without putting our engineers at risk. Meanwhile Arbortrack allowed us to pinpoint fallen trees, assess damage remotely, and act swiftly without needing immediate on-site inspections. Backed by comprehensive data and a resilient winter plan, we worked together to deliver rapid solutions, support vulnerable families and restore normality as quickly as possible. Storm Eowyn tested us all but through teamwork, technology and a relentless focus on safety we weathered it together. Thanks to a strong partnership between Amey, Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and Pinnacle Service Families we responded with resilience, innovation and a shared commitment to protect those who rely on us. #OneCommunityOneTeam #Resilience #WinterReady #Collaboration #Technology #StormEowyn #SafetyFirst #ServiceFamilies

We have some great news! National Highways has announced the 2024 shortlisted projects, businesses and individuals in the National Highways Industry Awards, and we're included... The shortlist includes: ✨ Home Safe and Well Champion – Martyn Griffith, Deployment of Eave active hearing protection Noise levels pose risks when working on the Specialist Bridges and Maintenance contract, prompting Martyn Griffith, the Operational Safety Advisor, to identify inadequacies in traditional noise risk assessments. Martyn conducted thorough noise assessments and introduced the Eave “FocusLite” system, which protects from harmful noise while allowing for conversation and hazard awareness. ✨ Outstanding customer focused initiative – AmeySRM, A533 Expressway bridge replacement The A533 Expressway bridge replacement scheme has ensured an increased life span of over 120 years, maintaining safety for road users and keeping local communities connected. National Highways and AmeySRM developed an innovative engineering solution that enabled the bridge deck to be constructed offsite in a more efficient, less disruptive way for customers. This initiative reduced the programme by 12 weeks, and installing the bridge during a single weekend meant fewer closures, further minimising disruption. Congratulations to all the teams involved. We’re looking forward to the awards presentation in March. Best of luck! #NationalHighwaysIndustryAwards

Yesterday, I had the privilege of conducting our first in-person Rail Safe Friendly (RSF) school visit on the Amey @CEFA/CAFA account. Alongside fellow volunteers Emily Green and Michelle Gard, we visited a primary school in York. RSF is part of the Amey Railway 200 celebrations in 2025, marking 200 years of UK Rail. This was a great way to kick off the celebrations and teach children about railway dangers, equipping them with safety skills, and discussing the social and environmental benefits of rail travel. We also introduced various railway job roles to inspire them to consider future careers in Rail. Our visit to Clifton Green Primary School involved presenting the workshop to two Year 6 classes, reaching 55 students. The school welcomed us wholeheartedly, and the children were eager to learn and participate. They asked lots of amazing questions and provided great answers to ours. Every child was engaged, with hands raised, and it's fair to say they had a fantastic time! The Amey “Shout Out” button was a hit, and the students enjoyed using the VR headsets and trying on PPE. I'm confident the learning will be something they remember and share with their friends and families. I'm looking forward to the next visit! #RailSafeFriendly #zerotrespass #shoutout #rail #schoolengagement #cliftongreenprimary@york.gov.uk James Holmes Kevin Shelton Gavin Fulcher Joe Docherty Saint Miles Jonathan Humphries LLB, ChPP, FAPM, MIoL Laura Davies Mark Shreeve Cmgr MCMI,TechIOSH, MAPM Jake Hanson (Learn Live) Stuart Heaton (Learn Live) Kathryn Ogdin (Learn Live) Heather Thompson (Learn Live)

Over 160 volunteers recently gathered at Catterick Garrison for one of Amey's largest volunteer events, packing 2,525 boxes with essentials for Service families as part of the Move You In Pack initiative. This initiative, in collaboration with e50K, showcases the power of community spirit, ensuring Service families feel welcome and supported as they transition to new homes. The day also included a visit to Bramble Woods, a thriving community hub designed to enhance wellbeing, sustainability and inclusivity within the defence community. Since its inception, the initiative has delivered over 18,000 boxes to families across the North and Central regions, supporting the long-term care and resilience of our military community. Together, we are creating lasting impact. More here: https://lnkd.in/eNTWnWRB Watch our film of the event below! ⤵️ #CommunitySupport #Resilience #MilitaryFamilies #Sustainability

As most of the UK headed back to work and school this week, in Bradford adverse weather conditions meant that over 150 schools had to close. At Amey we maintain ten schools across Bradford and our team has spent the week working tremendously hard to keep schools open and ensure staff and students are kept safe on site. By working closely with the schools, responding quickly to requests, and making sure gritting and ploughing are taking place in all the correct areas, our teams have enabled students to continue their learning throughout the week. Hanson Academy, a school we have maintained since 2011, took centre stage on BBC News, having managed to stay open all week. Hanson’s Headteacher, Mr Samuel Sheedy, felt the efforts of our site team’s hard work and said: “We’ve been very fortunate. We have a really good site team and teaching staff that have managed to get themselves in so that we can open the school.” At Amey, health and safety is at the forefront of how we operate as a business, and it is fantastic to see this attitude highlighted on national news. A huge well done to our Bradford contract! #Snow #Safety #Bradford
