We’ve been awarded a new eight-year contract to continue operating and maintaining the DLR – one of the capital’s busiest rail networks – for Transport for London. Building on the successes of the last 10 years, KeolisAmey will be supporting the introduction of a new fleet of trains, using the latest digital and AI technology to simplify maintenance techniques and making timetable improvements to run more regular, efficient services. I was pleased to attend the Diversity Network Awards on Friday evening, Amey’s Affinity Networks were recognised for their fantastic work on inclusion. In total Amey was nominated and shortlisted for five awards with most of our affinity groups represented and one special “Unsung Hero” shortlisting for Michelle Gard. As these awards are open to organisations from all industries and the competition was tough, with companies like Amazon, Centrica, Pfizer, HSBC, and DHL also competing, just reaching the shortlists is an outstanding achievement. And it was, fantastic on top of this success to win the award for best Network Initiative. This is a reflection of the incredible work Hollie Taylor, for the Women @ Amey network, has undertaken in delivering the PPE Survey, an initiative that has changed the way we provide safety clothing for our female colleagues. The award is a great achievement, and this initiative has also been shortlisted for the European Diversity Network awards in November. This week is National Inclusion Week, and at Amey, we recognise that while technological advancements like Digital Twin and data analytics have transformed engineering, the industry’s biggest challenge remains gender inequality. Despite ongoing efforts, equal representation of women continues to be a significant challenge. Through initiatives like the introduction of Women’s PPE, our Women@Amey Leadership Development Programme, and ReStart STEM programme, we’re committed to closing the gender gap and supporting women to thrive in engineering. 30% of our hires in the last 18 months have been women—a step in the right direction.
