Share Life’s Party - Yes, we CAN!!!   On Monday 16th, Amscan UK, part of the Wonder group, joined forces with the community of Milton Keynes to participate in the MK Can Food Bank event; A Guinness World Record for the longest length of tin cans!  Over the past few weeks, the Amscan UK employees have been gathering items from the charities shopping list, to help prepare for the event.    Together with 99 other businesses, 20 local schools, 30 churches and faith groups, 50 community organisations and 25 charities, the Amscan UK Share Life’s Party team participated in the event held at Campbell Park Milton Keynes, which saw over 102,000 cans collected for the MK Food Bank.    The 10km route successfully broke the standing record and has also led to fulfilling just over half of the canned food that the MK Food Bank needs for an entire year. During 2023, demand increased by almost 40% over the same period last year and the number of households receiving support doubled. With this in mind, we’ve also decided to keep our food collection scheme open for the foreseeable future, so we can continue to support the local community.    “This has been a wonderful project for Amscan UK to be involved with.  For our colleagues, the simplest of gestures has provided a significant impact for our local community, which is the very essence of our Share Life’s Party team. We are really looking forward to the next community initiative the committee of Amscan volunteers set for us, and to how we can continue to Share Life’s Party and support as many community projects as possible.” Lisa Norris, Commercial Director, Amscan UK. You Can, We Can, Amscan!  Share Life’s Party.

With our partnership with the World Book Day charity at the forefront of our minds, the Amscan Share Life’s Party team arranged a book drive within our Milton Keynes location of both new or good condition children’s books which we have donated to a local children’s centre in time for World Book Day. We are also aware of the key benefits of role play within children's development so accompanied this with a Costume Wardrobe! We were thrilled to be able to help share the mission of The World Book Day charity “Changing lives through a love of books and reading” through this collection. 📚

SILC Sponsor Spotlight: Wonder Group and Amscan UK The party and dress up specialist, Wonder Group appointed a new Group Sustainability Specialist this summer. Daniel Foster took up the mantle in June this year with the mission to provide support to the individual companies under the Wonder brand and drive the sustainability agenda across each and every one of them. A key focus for the Dan and the team will be on reduction, a key target for sustainability, whether that’s across emissions, waste, or in single-use materials. Wonder will be looking into new ways to reduce its impact across the supply chain, focusing on scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, as outlined with Climate Partner. The team is currently transitioning its costume packaging to an easily recyclable mono-plastic bag, with 40% recycled content. Targets have also been set to achieve a minimum of 35% recycled content in all products and packaging using plastic. Ambitions for 2024: Wonder and Amscan are committed to improving the lifecycle of its products. One example being a significant increase in the amount of machine washable costumes. This means products can be used again and again while working to change the perception of dress-up being a single-use product. Daniel Foster, Group Sustainability Specialist:  “We’re passionate about sustainability. It is extremely important to us at Wonder to continue to lead the way in our specific category, ensuring our systems and products meet the requirements of the future. Gathering everyone together, discussing this best practice, exchanging knowledge and ideas, is key for us all to bring a greater understanding to the topic and therefore in return, a more sustainable output.”  #SILC23 #ProductsOfChange Melanie Beer
