Congratulations to Anu Duggal & Female Founders Fund on returning their first fund & proving that women founders are a good investment 👏 👏 🚺 Many first funds don't make a return for investors 📈 Any further exits from FFF will be profitable for investors 😇 It takes 10 years at early stage, so really is patient capital https://lnkd.in/gGjKZgjv Anmol Nayyar - thanks for the intro all those years ago! Definitely avoiding the BS, but no shying away from tough questions around gender and opportunity in this Business Without Bullshit podcast. Great article from Natasha Frangos. Hopefully Rachel Reeves' budget will be as pro-growth as promised for our ambitious entrepreneurs & job-creators 🤞 Sara Sullivan Laura Meyer Helena Forsythe haysmacintyre #femalefounders #angelinvestors #budget
Managing Partner at haysmacintyre. Advise clients in Creative, Media, Tech and Retail industries, worked with many scale-ups through to exit event across a range of services, love building long lasting relationships.
Thanks to the Evening Standard online for publishing my article this morning. It's a hotly anticipated Budget and I do hope the decisions made give us the much needed and promised stimulation for growth. There have been so many calls for this from key entrepreneurs and influencers in the scale up ecosystem including Emma Sinclair MBE and Ian Merricks, FBCS FRSA - let's hope they are listened to. It is a Budget that is also making history, the first in over 100 Chancellors to be delivered by a woman. Article below with my thoughts on some concerning narrative that I hope is curbed. haysmacintyre https://lnkd.in/eDfpmCM5

It seems that every startup is deploying #AI in some shape or form. What do investors need to know before making an investment in an AI business and what do founders need to consider when speaking to investors? 🖥 In our recent webinar, angel investor Audrey Mandela put the questions to portfolio founders Lydia Gregory from Figaro.ai and Edward Smith from Adora Digital Health. 🧠 For context: there are many types of AI from conversational & generative AI to computer vision & autonomous systems etc etc. 💡 We’ve seen AI startup pitches in: coaching, therapy, wellness & healthcare, education & training, companionship, content creation, decision support & many others. In each case we ask: ❓Why is AI the best solution from the problem you’re solving? ❓Who in your team is responsible for the AI and what’s their experience? ❓Are you training your own AI, or using an existing one? Is it proprietary or open source? Are you using 3rd party support? ❓What kind of data are you using to train your models? How do you source & manage it? How do you handle data privacy & security? ❓How much do you expect to spend on AI over the next 5 years (inc compute costs for LLMs)? We don’t necessarily expect definitive answers but want to know about your thinking in these areas. 📣 Hear about when to use #GenAI and when you definitely shouldn't at our next online event, 5-6pm on 8 October 📣 GenAI is a type of AI system that's capable of generating new content, ideas, or data that mimic human-like creativity. ✅ This is brilliant when you want a graphic (as here) or a lively event description for example - we've been experimenting with writing in the voices of different well known authors to keep ourselves & our investor network amused - never a dull moment here! ❌ But if would be a disaster in situations where you need accurate and reliable results, eg disease diagnosis or accountancy. In these cases, the AI system must be trained on verified data. In our next online panel, we'll discuss the transformative potential of AI, trends and opportunities as well as the different types of AI and when to use them. Our very own Simon Hopkins will be putting the questions to Audrey Mandela, experienced angel investor and exited tech founder, as well as 2 pioneering AI founders: Lydia Gregory, CEO of Figaro, and Ed Smith, CTO of Adora Digital Health. ✏ Register here https://lnkd.in/ereewcxM #femalefounders #angelinvestors #startupinvestment Sara Sullivan John Souter Robert Mollen Laura Meyer Jane Clemetson FRSA Yee Mun T.
