Following last week’s UK Budget which included £40bn of tax rises, Joanna Jensen entrepreneur and chair of the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA) talks through what the measures mean for the UK’s entrepreneurs "Since the double whammy of COVID and Brexit, startups and scale ups have been experiencing belt tightening; liquidity is scarce, the cost of goods has risen enormously and international export legislation is nothing short of a headache. Many small firms are facing chronic staffing issues, from the long-term sick, a severe lack of workers in the hospitality and services industries, and many now reluctant to return to the office. A new government talking about growth was a much-needed boost – until the whispers started circling about their intention to remove every lever in the toolbox used to support business growth. The constant finger pointing at the previous Government feels like an intentional distraction from the fact that they are a collective of business virgins" 📑 Read the full article 🔗https://ow.ly/zHXr50U22AX What are your thoughts on the latest budget measures? Connecting Entrepreneurs with global Angel investors.
About us
Welcome to Angel Investment Network. Back in 2004, we noticed a significant challenge in the start-up scene. Many brilliant ideas were struggling to find the necessary seed funding to grow, and entrepreneurs were finding it difficult to connect with the right investors who could guide their growth. Driven by our passion for entrepreneurship, we set out on a mission to solve this problem. We embarked on building an online platform that would make it quick and easy for startups to connect with a global network of angel investors. And so, Angel Investment Network was born. Fast forward a few years and we're now one of the the world's largest angel networks with over 1.5 million entrepreneurs and over 300,000 investors, and we’re growing daily. We've designed a user-friendly form for entrepreneurs to build their pitch and have loads of tips and guides to guide them through the whole process. Investors can browse the deals on our website and filter them by keyword, location, industry, investment level, etc. If they find one that interests them, they can connect with the entrepreneur and continue the discussions. In 2023 we launched our investor focused app. The new app, which is free for investors, provides instant access to our global networks. This will enable investors to grow their portfolios through exploring deals, connecting and investing with entrepreneurs on the move. You can find us on the App store and Android. Join us on this exciting journey of innovation and growth. Together, let's shape the future of entrepreneurship and make a lasting impact. Best wishes James + Mike

We are thrilled for Startups Magazine for sharing our recent UK survey data. Your support in amplifying our findings helps us to drive meaningful conversations within our community 🙏
UK startups need more support in understanding an increasingly complex early-stage funding process💰 A new survey from Angel Investment Network (AIN), an online angel investment platform, reveals that less than half of respondents (44%) said they had a good understanding of the fundraising process when dealing with investors. Less than one in seven (15%) described this as very good The survey of 223 startups highlights a big gap in fundraising expectations versus the current reality of the process with more challenging market conditions🚀 👇 Read more below 👇 #StartupsMagazine #Startups #Entrepreneur #Fundraising #Funding #Investing

📣"One of the most concerning findings of the survey is the number of startups that are running out of cash sooner than expected. 38% said the funds ran out sooner than expected, more than double the number who said they lasted longer (17%). However 45% said the fundraising period was about the same as expected. For startups that had previously raised investment, 54% revealed it had taken longer than expected, versus just 17% who said it was quicker than expected. In response to the present climate, nearly half have needed to raise smaller amounts than planned. Preparing for a longer haul than planned is crucial" 🎺Today AIN launches the first results from our 2024 Founder survey. In this article we deep dive into the results from our UK survey and what the takeouts are for startups seeking funding in a new climate. To mark our 20th anniversary we launched a founder survey so we could hear from the founders across the network and take the temperature of startups in 2024. We wanted to gain a deeper understanding about your fundraising challenges, your successes and life as a startup founder. Today we are releasing the first set of findings from our UK founders. 📢 Read the full article 📢 https://lnkd.in/eXnqYtAY #startups #entrepreneurs #fundraising
