A 642,897,425 million Point Cloud generated with photogrammetry and, in accordance to the RICS ‘Measured Surveys of Land, Buildings and Utilities’ accuracies of 20mm-50mm that would be applicable for a topographic survey, from over 1,400 x 1.5cm/px GSD UAV-acquired and controlled aerial images of a 1.7km long section (A63 ‘Southern Quadrant’) of the 7km long ‘East Leeds Orbital Route’. ARC Aerial Imaging was tasked a few years ago to undertake a case study for a ‘Tier 1’ civil engineering entity if UAV-acquired imaging, together with controlled means in place (GCPs/CPs), has potential information and ‘intelligence’ value of being additional geospatial support towards large civil engineering and construction projects of this nature. Another insightful day attending the bi-annual ‘Regional Airspace Users Working Group’ (RAUWG) which was held at RAF Leeming today. The RAUWG is an AP8000 (leaflet 8201) mandated Air Safety meeting that occurs every six months and its aim is to reduce the risk of mid-air collision between military and civilian airspace users through enhanced engagement namely: * Knowing and understanding the operations of other airspace users. * Building strong and sustainable relationships between airspace users. * Promoting and Engaged Safety Culture. Excellent presentations with the emphasis of air safety with the day including some networking with other regional airspace stakeholders and users such as ARC Aerial Imaging. The key take away here is that we encourage anyone, particularly those professionals that are engaged within the commercial UAS sphere just as our Director does as, among other roles and responsibilities, ARC Aerial Imaging’s Air Safety representative, who would be regular airspace users to attend these RAUWG events where/when they’re being held at.
