Delighted to be in Nairobi, Kenya, as a guest of APA today, launching ARK’s wellness venture YuBuntu, powering APA’s Femina Plus product as part of their women’s insurance SHEild programme. #insuringhappiness YuBuntu tackles female cancers (breast, cervical and ovarian) and for its members through prevention (vaccines, diagnostics, screenings and education), which drives down incidence rates and catches cancers early. This unlocks affordable insurance coverage, at a level that funds some of the latest immunotherapies and innovative treatments. APA Femina Plus, powered by YuBuntu, is priced to cater to women in the “missing middle” in Kenya, those who are on lower-middle incomes, and for whom healthcare access is limited. The YuBuntu approach represents an innovative re-think of traditional models. As always, this is a massive team effort, and whilst I can’t list everyone, I want to particularly recognise Stephen Cartwright, Bart Jordens, Sicco van Gelder, Tobi Ogunbekun and Richard Leftley, who have been day-to-day responsible. But they couldn’t have done this without the team at APA Insurance Limited, Ashok Shah, Vinod Bharatan, Catherine Karimi, and their teams.
