Arts Therapies is the umbrella term for art, music, dance movement, drama and play therapies. Each of these modalities has its own regulatory body, which is why the titles are a little different: Psychotherapy, Therapy and the all one-word Dramatherapy. They are all held to a high standard with extensive training to become an accredited practitioner, the difference in title doesn't mean a difference in quality. To check if a therapist is registered you can search for them on the governing bodies websites: -The Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK - The British Association of Art Therapists -British Association for Music Therapy -British Association of Dramatherapists -British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) or - The Health and Care Professions Council - The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy It can feel confusing and a bit overwhelming, so be assured all our Therapists are regulated and up to the correct educational standards. #HCPC #mentalhealthprofessionals

Play in Play Therapy allows you to express your feelings and emotions in a safe and non-confrontational way. It helps to work through problems and find creative solutions while providing an alternative means of communication, especially for those who struggle with verbal expression. Play interventions help you make sense of experiences and develop coping strategies for difficult situations. It enhances the therapeutic relationship between you and the therapist, building trust and rapport which helps break down barriers so you can focus on your journey/goals. Additionally, play supports self-regulation, boosts confidence and self-esteem, and encourages the development of social skills like sharing, cooperation, and empathy which is impactful for younger clients supporting wider wellbeing themes. Play Therapy isn't playing games, it's not about that. It’s about the process, the journey, developing and learning to build a healthier life. Drama in Dramatherapy helps the therapeutic journey by allowing you to express and explore your emotions through role-play, storytelling and other techniques as saying things can be difficult sometimes. It helps gain insights into thoughts, feelings, and behaviours while providing a safe environment to explore difficult or traumatic experiences. Drama techniques offer a creative space for problem-solving and help develop empathy by allowing you to understand different perspectives. Engaging in drama activities boosts self-esteem and confidence, enhances communication and social interaction skills, and encourages creativity and imaginative thinking. By involving the whole body, Dramatherapy helps to connect physical actions with emotional states and can facilitate emotional release and healing. No drama skill or experience is needed, it's not about that. It's about your journey, process and goals. Dramatherapists- add to the list in the comments! #dramatherapy #artstherapiesuk
