"The hospice made our horse-loving mum’s last dying wish come true" Stacey Kelly, daughter of Dorothy Greveson, shares the heartfelt story of her adventurous and courageous mum who we cared for at our hospice before she died in August last year. Now, Stacey and her siblings will honour her memory by dedicating a star as part of our Light Up a Life appeal, generously sponsored by Harold Lilleker & Sons Ltd - Independent Family Funeral Directors. Visit our website to read their touching story: https://shorturl.at/rq6ur You too can dedicate a star in memory of someone you love this Christmas. We believe that every person matters and it is our aim to ensure that every person who needs hospice care can get it.
About us
Ashgate Hospice is a charity (no. 700636) that provides compassionate, specialist palliative and end of life care, free of charge, to patients with a life-limiting illness and their families across North Derbyshire. For patients with the most complex needs, we have an Inpatient Unit. However, most of our patients are cared for at home by our team of specialist nurses, specialist therapists and healthcare professionals. This enables them to stay where they feel most comfortable for as long as possible. We are not an NHS hospice. Less than 30% of our total income comes from local NHS health budgets. Every £1 donated to Ashgate Hospicecare – whether through participating in an event or donating or buying items in our shops - makes a huge difference. Thank you for your continued support. We wouldn’t be here without it.

Thank you to Dronfield Rugby Club for raising a fantastic £1,250.43 for us at their Go Pink for Ashgate weekend. Players wore pink socks at home and away games. Their opponents joined in too, making for a pitch full of pink socks! 💗 But their fundraising didn't stop there. Members and parents of the Dronfield Minis and Juniors teams baked cakes and sold loom bands, generously donating all proceeds to Ashgate Hospice. Thank you to everyone involved. 💜 Pictured: A selection of photos from Dronfield Rugby Club's Go Pink Weekend. #AshgateHospice #ThankYou #MakingADifference #GoPinkforAshgate #Community

At Ashgate we recognise the importance of opening conversations on death and dying, something that Joanna Ebenstein highlights in this recent article. She encourages us all to create personal beliefs about death, offering eight questions to help us reflect on our own views, making our inevitable journey with death less isolating and more meaningful. Read the full article on The Guardian online to explore your own beliefs through her eight thought-provoking questions: https://shorturl.at/JJ7Eu Pictured: An illustration of two hands about to touch, with one hand being a skeleton. #Death #Dying
