🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be joining forces with the incredible William Powers for an upcoming webinar titled "Strange Visions: Optimism and Dystopia in AI's Future" on Tuesday, 10 September. William is a New York Times-bestselling author and former MIT scientist, with a wealth of experience in AI. He has founded, led, and consulted for numerous AI startups, and currently serves as a Visiting Scholar for Humanistic Technologies at the Max Planck Center for Humans and Machines in Berlin. His work has taken him around the world, moderating Aspen Institute seminars in various countries. 🌍 In this webinar, brought to you by the Aspen Institute UK Tech, Transport, and Logistics Industry Network Group, William will explore the contrasting perspectives on AI's potential. We'll dive into Marc Andreessen's hyper-optimistic 2023 vision of AI saving the world, alongside E.M. Forster's dystopian vision from his 1909 short story "The Machine Stops." We'll examine how these divergent views highlight the challenges and opportunities in governing AI technologies, the implications for policymaking, and the critical role leaders play in balancing innovation with safeguarding societal values. Join us between 1-2pm on Tuesday, 10 September, to discuss how we can navigate this dichotomy and build a future where AI serves humanity positively. This exclusive webinar will be facilitated by me, Teijas Ky, Aspen UK Rising Leader Ambassador for the Tech, Transport, and Logistics Industry Network Group. Link to register: https://lnkd.in/eVvREevn Looking forward to having you join us for what promises to be an incredible conversation! 🙂 #Webinar #AI #Innovation #HumanisticTech #TeijasAndWilliam #FutureOfAI

Welcome to our final Wisdom Wednesday, where we’ve been sharing tips on how to debate in the most productive and positive way. Our fifth tip is to actively listen to others. Active listening is key to a fruitful debate. Give your full attention, acknowledge others' points, and respond thoughtfully. It's not just about what you say but how well you understand. #AspenUK #JoyOfDebate #WisdomWednesday #GeneralElection

Welcome to another Wisdom Wednesday! Our fourth tip is to offer and receive constructive criticism. How often do you happily receive criticism and actively take it on board? Productive debate involves constructive criticism. Offer feedback that helps others improve and grow. Focus on ideas, not individuals, and always aim to uplift rather than tear down. And actively listen when others are feeding back to you. #AspenUK #JoyOfDebate #WisdomWednesday #GeneralElection

Each of the political parties on the 2024 ballot will publish a manifesto on their top priorities. The eighth of which was released yesterday. The Sinn Féin manifesto highlights 5 key priorities: 1. “A stronger and fairer economy that delivers good jobs that pay well, offers workers secure conditions, and supports local business.” 2. “Stand up for workers, families and communities and be their voice where it counts.” 3. “Stand up for workers, families, rural and urban communities, to ensure they have access to first-class public services.” 4. “The Irish and British governments must set a date for a referendum on Irish unity.” 5. “Sinn Féin is committed to an inclusive and diverse society based on equal rights and equal opportunities for all citizens.” We encourage you to head to the Sinn Fein website to the read the manifesto in full. And keep on the look out for other manifestos coming. #AspenUK #JoyOfDebate #GeneralElection #ElectionManifesto

Management today is not about managing resources but perspectives and mindsets. Last week, I was privileged to join an incredible cohort of UK leaders from across industries to discuss and reflect on leadership aspects during the challenging times within the Aspen Institute UK Executive Leadership Seminar in Wales. I’m still processing. We live in the age of Overtone Windows, when things become acceptable and change over time, and not all of them lead to a happy ending. A leader's mindset, values and overall moral framework affect the course of the ship, which is called business. To start change inside an organization, we need to start a change within ourselves. The commercial aspect influences morality and decision-making; not all revenue-based decisions lead to a sustainable future and long-term prosperity Change management today is about systematic change when we have a lot of stuff to be fixed. Addressing one at a time, being able to recognize the problem, taking personal accountability, strategising the next move and possible ripple effects - at the end of the day, it is all about decision-making in the fog when you are always missing some piece of information and stakes are high. Thank you, Aspen Institute UK and our moderators Ruth Girardet Radostin Popov, for such a mindset journey and experience and for the participants for their honesty and new perspectives. It was a real game-changer for me. #innovation #strategy

Welcome to another Wisdom Wednesday! Our third tip is to approach debate with kindness. Kindness is the cornerstone of any meaningful debate. Approach every discussion with a compassionate heart and a genuine desire to understand. Let's make kindness the norm, not the exception. Have you been reading our run downs of the party manifestos? Keep an eye out for them on our social media for the latest election run down! #AspenUK #JoyOfDebate #WisdomWednesday #GeneralElection
