AVONDALE FOODS (CRAIGAVON) LIMITED

I am Anne Dillon; the Laboratory Manager at Avondale Foods where I have worked for seven years. I graduated from Queens with a BSc in Food Quality, Safety and Nutrition and then started working in Avondale Foods as an Assistant Microbiologist. I had the opportunity to cover the Food Safety Manager’s maternity leave for six months, which helped broaden my knowledge in food safety management. I was subsequently promoted to Assistant Food Safety Manager and two years later I was promoted to Laboratory Manager I lead a team of Microbiologist Assistants in our on-site food microbiology laboratory; we are currently recruiting for a Food Safety Technologist to join our team. The person recruited to this role will help review and update microbiological results as well as manage allergen validations/verifications and risk assessments. I love working at Avondale Foods because of the close relationships we have built within our laboratory team. We communicate openly and support each other, which creates a positive and collaborative atmosphere. Additionally, I like being part of a company that is constantly evolving as I love the challenges that this brings, providing opportunities to improve and develop new skills. 

Last week, the Food Safety Culture Team hosted a Food Safety Awareness Week, with various activities being held throughout the week focusing on food safety topics specific to our business.    To thank staff for their engagement throughout the week, we celebrated World Food Safety Day (and National Doughnut Day) on Friday 7th June by giving all staff a complimentary doughnut.

Merry Christmas to All! Avondale Foods partook in Mission Christmas Cash for Kids 2023! We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our employee's and would like to thank everyone who got involved. Thanks to everyone we managed to raise an amazing £864.78 and donated mountains of toys. These will be delivered to Children who otherwise wouldn’t have woken up to a present under the tree.
