Budget day was an unavoidable topic of discussion when we gathered with other investment firms in Bristol this month - with a big thanks to Michelmores for hosting us. But better than contemplating looming tax law, the conversations around our collective intentions to continue investing into innovative growth companies in the year ahead was testament to the commitment to do what we can, in spite of the painful headwinds that the new government might levy on entrepreneurs in the years ahead. We remain open for business, and it's great to know our co-investors have the stamina to do the same!

About us
Axial Capital is an investor & corporate advisor. As a corporate investor into high-growth businesses Axial Ventures puts its backing behind founders that operate low capex business models and recurring B2B revenue streams, leveraging our established presence across the UK, North America and Europe. Axial Capital's corporate finance arm is a growth & investment advisory boutique, providing capital & strategy for growth, and leading M&A and corporate actions across our core jurisdictions. We are sector agnostic in our approach and look for market-proven and often tech-enabled business models, where we can deploy our resources into accelerating your revenue growth and enhancing your technology roadmap. We support greater positioning in the marketplace and we provide access to synergistic partnerships and additional working capital from our co-investor base to enhance the growth that has already been achieved. Our track record is within both public and private capital markets on transactions from £500k - £100m. We advocate a focus on growth which is both organic and inorganic, using investment and M&A for expansion - right through to public capital market listings on growth orientated stock exchanges. Advisory on public listings and institutional equity & debt sits with our corporate team, utilising our reach into credit & equity funds and investment banks across the UK/EU, North America and Australia. My brief bio, as the Director of Axial Capital Partners: my qualifications and experience are in the areas of corporate finance & banking, and private sector commercial operations. I'm a qualified Justice of the Peace (JP), and have worked in the corporate and investment space in the UK, US, and Australia. We have looked at investing into various drone-based businesses from blood delivery to automated crop management, and a snippet from today's headlines suggests the day of the drone may indeed be coming..

With rumours of CGT and other tax rises following the appointment of a new government in the UK, flows of new money into tax-efficient business investment structures have spiked 188% on an annualised basis in just the two months following the election. This is great news for increased investment inflow for innovative businesses, but contrasted with a worrying bellwether for another possible hammer-blow by the new governing party:

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the small-mid caps investment summit in Stockholm later this month (ideally with the last of summer still hanging over the city!) https://lnkd.in/gqnaX3Wf

12,000 tech companies in 3 months? That was the rate of new incorporations in just the second quarter of the year, and has resulted in the sounding of alarms as it represents a slide in new TechCo starts in the UK. The question is whether this simply reflects maturity in the sector, with more advanced technologies coming to market, and (perhaps usefully?) fewer startups that in reality are little more than novel apps.. Interesting reading all the same, and highlights the highly competitive dynamics across international markets:

Most businesses that we invest our resources into are tech-enabled, or in some form rooted in innovative IP. But this week's Future Flight investment session at Level39 was a concentrated dose of some of the most exciting innovation out there - from fully automated drone-led infrastructure inspection, through to UAV-charging vertiports for inner city transport hubs, it was a really good day shared with other investors and business founders at Canary Wharf. #UKRI #drones #investors #level39
