Project Complete ✅ Working for a new client, AYM undertook the roofing works to Buildings J1, J2 & J3, forming part of Wood Wharf Phase 3 which is a major residential development located in Canary Wharf. AYM installed the Alumasc Roofing Hydrotech (Blue Roof) system to all areas, with varying finishes including brown roof and paving. Over the Christmas period a friend and former colleague of mine Michael Edward faced a life threatening battle with Crohns disease, suffering a stroke and paralysis in hospital. Thankfully recovering from the paralysis, but he came extremely close to losing his life. In only late September 2024 and to great surprise, I bumped into Mike on a beach in Protaras, Cyprus (Just a few metres from the hotel where I attended his incredible wedding in October 2020), later spending the evening and a few drinks together with his family, seemingly fit as a fiddle. To think just a matter of weeks later, he would be having life saving surgery. Some of my colleagues at AYM Services will be running the Hampton Court Half Marathon to raise money for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation. Last week, in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day, our client Hill Group UK hosted a vital mental health awareness day onsite at Dagenham Green. At AYM, we're proud to have our own mental health initiatives, including a 24/7 third-party counselling service, Mental Health First Aiders, and regular external seminars for employees. It’s encouraging to see our clients also prioritising mental health on site. It’s no secret that the suicide rate in UK construction is three times higher than the national average, making it the highest-risk industry for mental health issues. Together, we need to drive the change and create a safer, more supportive environment for everyone. A big thank you to Hill Group and all those who hosted these crucial seminars last week.
