Who knew potatoes were so exciting? Congratulations to Fibe on winning the top prize at the 2024 Manufacturing Futures Innovation Challenge with their innovative use of potato waste to create sustainable textile fibres, receiving £15,000 from Fashion District to advance their development. Idan Gal-Shohet, co-founder of Fibe, said: “The funding will be used to expand our business, so we are able to harvest a variety of different crops and create better conditions for farmers around the world. Our mission in the end is to create materials that use far fewer environmental resources than what’s currently available.” Exciting times ahead in material science!🌍 #SustainableFashion #Innovation #FashionDistrict

Exciting developments in sustainable fashion! Launched at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen, The Fashion ReModel initiative unites industry leaders to challenge the traditional take-make-waste model and advance circular business models as the new industry standard. This collaborative effort includes some of the world's leading fashion brands such as Arket, COS, Weekday, Arc'teryx, Primark, Reformation, and Zalando.
Introducing The Fashion ReModel Leading fashion brands from high street to high-end are exploring ways to make money without making new clothes as part of the Foundation’s new demonstration project. Today’s fashion industry largely operates on a take-make-waste model meaning millions of tonnes of clothing are produced, worn, and discarded every year. We must reinvent this wasteful linear system and fundamentally transform the way we design, make, and ultimately enjoy our clothes. Launched today Global Fashion Agenda's Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen, industry frontrunners from across high street and high-end names, as well as others in the sector, join The Fashion ReModel to identify solutions and unlock barriers in order to scale circular business models and progress towards a more resilient future. Arc'teryx, H&M Group — and its brands ARKET, COS and Weekday — together with Primark, Reformation, and Zalando are among the first participants in the Foundation-led demonstration project. By harnessing the industry’s innovative and creative potential, we can begin to accelerate a new way of doing business in fashion. Explore the project here: https://bit.ly/3WNNg3F

French luxury resale platform Vestiaire Collective is challenging fast fashion's grip on consumer spending with a new metric: cost-per-wear. This innovative approach aims to shift consumer focus from initial purchase price to the true cost of an item based on how often it's worn. This focus on cost-per-wear empowers consumers to make more informed and sustainable clothing choices. By understanding the true value proposition, shoppers can prioritize quality pieces with greater longevity over trendy, disposable items. https://lnkd.in/eaYkwQhd #sustainablefashion #fashionindustry #resale #circularity

A Wave of Fashion House Feature Films on the Horizon Luxury fashion houses are stepping further into the spotlight, but this time, they're behind the camera. A recent article highlights a growing trend of luxury brands producing their own feature films. Saint Laurent Productions, launched just last year, has already secured three films for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, while LVMH recently announced the formation of 22 Montaigne Entertainment, a division focused on film and television projects. This move suggests a strategic shift for luxury brands, leveraging the power of storytelling to connect with audiences on a deeper level. Could this be the dawn of a new era in luxury brand storytelling? #luxuryfashion #film #contentmarketing #storytelling https://lnkd.in/eSDX8ZXZ
