CEO at Motivez 🚀 | Race Engineer at Team X44 🏎⚡️ | Young Engineer of the Year 22/23 👨🏾💻 | Board Member at The Hamilton Commission & Co-op Foundation 🤝 | Public Speaker 🎤

As a humanitarian engineer, who gets to travel and race around the world, I often get asked how I built my career in STEM and what I’d do differently if I had the chance 🚀 If I could go back to being 16 again, here are the 3 things I’d do to get a head start: 1️⃣ Explore Your Curiosity: Summers spent fixing and building bikes taught me that innovation isn’t confined to labs—it starts in your garden, your road, your home. This was the mindset and early experience which helped me to walk into STEM companies…and end up saving them millions of pounds. Get hands-on and explore your curiosity EARLY 🔧 2️⃣ Experiment and Learn: I wish I’d jumped onto free resources like YouTube earlier to explore what others were creating, especially around technology. There’s now so much free and accessible information there. I was pretty scared to study anything with electronics or programming but these have been some of the best tools in my toolbox, especially as I now develop electric cars. You just can’t make it up! Don’t be afraid to dive in and try something different - you never know where it might lead 👨💻 3️⃣ Broaden Your Horizons: I had no idea how closely aerospace aligned with what I do in motorsport. If I’d known, I would have sought out more experiences with companies like BAE Systems where the future of tech is being shaped. From engineering a Typhoon jet, to becoming a well-paid cyber security expert, there are no limits. If you’re considering options, they’ll open up opportunities for graduates in September and winter 2024 for apprentices. Remember, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take 🎯 The journey to where I am today involved a lot of exploration, and now you have the chance to start strong! Don’t just take my word for it though —see for yourself. 🔗 Link in first comment 👇🏾 The marathon continues 🏁 #TheKidFromPeckham #MotivezMindset #STEM #Aerospace #BAE #Ad

A jammed GPS signal can make navigation seriously difficult, to both military and civilian flight. However, quantum sensing has the potential to make on-board navigation unjammable, as well as improve radar accuracy. That’s why we’re working with SMEs and academic partners to develop this technology of tomorrow 🧪 Learn more about our work with Dr. Keshav Thirumalai from Infleqtion UK 📹 http://baes.co/QMoc50SUxAU

New shipbuilding facility named in honour of female World War II shipyard electrician, Janet Harvey 💪 The Janet Harvey Hall is named after one of the many women who took on industrial jobs during the Second World War and honours the efforts all the women who stepped up and became electricians, welders, engineers and platers when the call came. The Janet Harvey Hall, under construction at our Govan site, is a key element of the £300m transformation of BAE Systems' shipbuilding facilities in Glasgow. Once complete, this vast facility will be large enough for two Type 26 frigates to be constructed side-by-side and it will help enable efficient and safe shipbuilding for decades to come with future work unaffected by adverse weather 🚢 🔗 http://baes.co/I6BU50STAPG
