It’s a win for the BakerHicks designed aseptic manufacturing facility for AstraZeneca in the LABC Building Excellence Awards for the North West! The new Sterile Products Plant took home the Best Non-Residential Build category and now progresses to the National Grand Final, which will take place in January 2025.   Congratulations to everyone involved, a very well-deserved win. A proud moment seeing the Elizabeth Line, including Whitechapel Station which we delivered from RIBA Stage 3 to completion, shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2024. The Stirling Prize recognises the best new architecture in the UK, showcasing the most ingenious and diverse design in the country. RIBA President, Muyiwa Oki, described the Elizabeth Line and its fellow nominees as having raised the bar in terms of thoughtfully adapting elements of our existing built environment. Our Ground Engineering team recently spent a day volunteering at the Lancashire Mining Museum helping clear vegetation to create an orchard. Given the connection to the legacy of mining in their day job, the museum was the perfect place for them to volunteer. After their vegetation clearance work was done, they took advantage of the opportunity to see the working steam winding engine and speak with a retired miner who is now volunteering at the museum. A productive day giving back to their local community, bonding as team and learning about an element of history that has a real impact on their work today. It was a win for the Tyn-y-Bryn Active Travel Bridge in the Active Travel Project of the Year category at last night's New Civil Engineer Bridges Awards 🏆 Providing residents with essential pedestrian access to the local town and services, the bridge is also highly sustainable with its 11 metre, reinforced plastic structure considerably reducing its carbon footprint compared to a traditional steel equivalent. The incredible work of our team and our project partners, Balfour Beatty plc, on this innovative project was also recognised in the Bridge Project Team of the Year category, in which we were finalists. On Tuesday, our Lausanne team enjoyed the glorious weather, live music and good company of their industry colleagues at the BakerHicks sponsored Biopôle Lausanne campus summer after work event. Taking team building to new levels with some of our EPCM project team for dsm-firmenich’s new Bovaer® production plant - conquering 100 kilometres and 2,200 metres of climbing in the Alsacienne Cyclosportive Challenge!   The team of seven, including representatives from BakerHicks and DSM-firmenich, were undeterred by the rain and gusting wind, working together to complete the challenging route through the Vosages mountains in aid of Hessiland Wildlife Trust, a charity local to DSM-firmenich’s Dalry site.   An inspiring effort from all seven and a day they’re not going to forget in a hurry. #design #engineering #projectdelivery #team #teambuilding #lifesciences #epcm #projectteam
