Kicking-off the 2024 Olympic games, Baker Hughes style. In the lead-up to the opening of the games over the past four weeks, our local teams in France organized a series of Olympic-themed celebrations that finished with a torch relay. The torch, a universal symbol of peace and friendship, was crafted by our Machining Department and was passed between our sites as a sign of unity. The grand finale, an 'Olympic Festive Day,' saw 20 teams competing in a variety of activities. Did you test your knowledge on our latest poll? Keep reading to find out if you answered correctly. Compressors... ✔ Move Energy: Gas fields are rarely located close to where the energy is needed, so the gas needs to be transported by pipeline or ship. Within pipelines, compression stations combat natural pressure loss and 'push' the gas to the next station. In applications where pipelines aren't practical, natural gas is compressed to cool and liquefy it for transport. ✔ Enable the hydrogen revolution: Hydrogen is typically produced at relatively low pressures (20–30 bar or lower) and must be compressed prior to transport. ✔ Make CCUS projects possible: Compression of CO2 is necessary to take carbon emissions from some of the hardest to abate industries – oil and gas, mining, cement, metals – and transport it for eventual storage. So, the correct answer is 'All of the above'. Stay tuned for more chances to challenge your wisdom! #Compressors #EmissionsReduction #LNG #OilandGas #EnergyTransition #SutainableEnergyDevelopment
Compressors are a key link in the energy value chain. They also have a role to play in the energy transition by helping to reduce emissions. But first, what is a compressor anyway? Compressors are large mechanical devices that use either rotational force or piston movement to increase the pressure acting on a gas and decrease its volume as a result. They play an important role across the entire energy value chain—increasing the efficiency of various processes and ultimately helping to reduce emissions.

Increasing efficiency is the first step to enabling more sustainable energy development. The Baker Hughes LM9000 is one of most efficient aeroderivative gas turbines in the 65+ MW power range. Its compact, modular design enables fast and cost efficient installation. The LM9000 is used for mechanical drive and power generation for on and offshore applications and can also be integrated with renewable power sources, making it an ideal solution to lower the carbon footprint of the natural gas value chain. Did you know that Baker Hughes technology is widely adopted across the aerospace sector? Our broad Industrial & Energy Technology portfolio including Druck, a Baker Hughes business pressure measurement solutions and Waygate Technologies inspection and testing services helps optimize a wide range of aerospace applications, driving both efficiency and performance. This week at the Farnborough International Air Show, two new Druck calibration solutions are set for take-off. Providing the aviation sector with greater productivity, the new Druck technologies will improve turn-around-times across mandatory pre-flight aircraft maintenance checks and eliminate the need for third-party calibration of pitot static tests, used to simulate and verify aircraft airspeed, rate of climb and altitude. Energizing change across the aerospace sector. Learn more here 🔗: https://lnkd.in/eYYAKThn #Aerospace #AerospaceIndustry #PressureMeasurement #Inspection #FIA2024 #Druck #WaygateTechnologies
