Creating a legacy by safely delivering infrastructure ambitions from concept to customer

About us

Barhale was formed in 1980 as a specialist tunnelling contractor and grew initially through the successful delivery of projects in the water sector, developing mechanical and electrical capabilities and a fabrication and supply subsidiary, alongside our traditional tunnelling, civil engineering and utilities skills. After 40 years of successful trading Barhale remains a privately owned business working UK-wide across the water, transport and energy sectors. We provide design, construction and maintenance services under long-term contracts with blue-chip public, regulated and private clients. Barhale is a values driven business which forms collaborative relationships. We operate as a tier 1 partner to many of our clients, often working in integrated teams. Seventy per cent of our turnover is in long-term frameworks and half of our operations are in joint ventures with long-term industry partners. Our vision is to be the best at what we do, aiming to be a market leading infrastructure services provider. Our 3 Pillar Sustainability Model defines our mission - to be the safest, most efficient and most responsible partner to our customers, supported by sound systems and processes, talented people and an engaged supply chain.

  • We are incredibly grateful to Walsall Council's Clean & Green team for hosting insightful lunch and learn sessions on the litter issue in our borough and the council’s efforts to combat it through their volunteering programme. During the recent session, our staff gained valuable insights into the environmental impact of litter on our community, environment and wildlife. They learned the dos and don’ts of recycling and were presented with some eye-opening recycling facts and figures. The team also showcased some fascinating items made from recycled materials, including a neck scarf, clipboard, pencil case, and decorative mirror. LUANA BILLS (Social Impact & Sustainability Manager) says: “As the programme’s first corporate partner, Barhale is committed to continuing our community work, embodying our values of #Caring, #Pride, and #TeamSpirit by helping to remove unsightly rubbish and improve our local area for all. This year, Barhale will be participating in the Great British Spring Clean. If you haven’t signed up yet, why not join us and get involved?” #People #Community #Sustainability #EnvironmentalImpact #Recycling #Volunteering #GreatBritishSpringClean

  • As part of the Thames Water Fortis Green Trunk Main Replacement project team’s ongoing support for the Friends of Arnos Park volunteering group, we were happy to help out at their Groundforce Day events held in November and last weekend. Thank you to Sebastian Antosiewicz (General Foreman), Tomasz Rachfal (Ganger), Harriclea B. (Customer and Stakeholder Manager), Wieslaw Adamarek (Carpenter), Isabel Duke (Customer and Stakeholder Advisor), Marta Pnishi (Customer and Stakeholder Lead), Marc Pattemore (Ganger) and Sorin Botezatu (Skilled Operative) for spending time on their Saturdays helping to manage the meadow and scrub by clearing trees and tidying branches. Clearing the overgrown areas ensures the community can safely access and use areas within the park which were previously inaccessible. Helping to maintain the natural environment within the park also supports its wildlife. #OurEnvironment #SocialValue #Volunteering

  • Congratulations to the STRABAG UK Equitix consortium on being named the preferred bidder by United Utilities for the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP) scheme!   As a key supply chain partner to the consortium, we have enjoyed working closely with STRABAG UK and are proud to have been able to play our part in supporting the tender submission throughout. Barhale Ltd have been tracking and involved with HARP for over 5 years. To be part of the winning consortium is fantastic news and a great achievement for all involved.   The technical solution, which has been developed, will serve to guarantee the resilience of water supply in the North West. This, coupled with lasting positive impact on local communities and supply chain means the project will leave a lasting legacy for years to come.   We are looking forward to further strengthening our relationship with STRABAG UK, as we look to ready ourselves for the construction phase of what will be a technically challenging and complex, yet highly rewarding project.  #waterresilience #waterindustry #contractaward #civilengineering
