Do you know the difference between national Mind and a local Mind charity?! Bath Mind is a local Mind, so our services are unique to our area, and we raise our own funds to help the B&NES community. We are affiliated to the national Mind charity, who campaign on a national level to improve mental health services, raise awareness, and promote understanding, but we are in fact two separate charities! That means we’re responsible for our funding and the services we provide. Check out our short video about local Minds and why they’re so important! #YourLocalMind #IndependentCharity

  • It's #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek! 💙 Our Systems and Data Lead, Hannah, chairs our Neurodiversity subgroup and is sharing small but meaningful ways organisations can support neurodivergent staff. At Bath Mind, our subgroup helps shape internal events and suggests adjustments to create a more inclusive workplace - whether that’s offering quiet spaces, flexible communication styles, or simply building understanding. How does your workplace support neurodiversity? Let us know in the comments! 💭 #InclusionAtWork #StaffNetwork #WorkplaceWellbeing

Today is #WorldSleepDay! 💤 Our Media Volunteer, Ed, has shared some tips to improve your sleep. 1⃣ Don’t underestimate the power of “preparatory sleep steps” to signal to your body that it's time for rest. Techniques like breathing exercises, meditation, or herbal tea can promote relaxation. A hot shower or bath 1-2 hours before bed raises body temperature, making you feel sleepy as it drops. 2⃣ Maintaining a balanced diet can be really valuable when it comes to good sleeping habits. Try to avoid large meals within an hour of bedtime, or missing a meal and going to bed hungry. 3⃣ Train your body to sleep well by keeping a consistent sleep schedule. Stick to your planned daytime activities, even after a bad night, to prevent lethargy and insomnia. 4⃣ To improve sleep quality, turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bed and avoid looking at screens, such as your phone, computer, or TV, for at least an hour before sleep. Store your alarm clock out of sight to reduce anxiety and night-time disruptions. 5⃣ Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet for better sleep. Use blackout blinds, earplugs, or a fan, and ensure your bed is comfortable and supportive. Thank you to Ed, for creating this artwork and tips for our community! 🙌 Do share them if you've found them useful 🙂

We're in your corner 💙 This week, we wrote to Rachel Reeves. And our CEO, Sarah Hughes, met with the minister in charge of disability benefits to raise our concerns. We know these potential reforms are scary. We hear you. Changes wouldn’t happen overnight, and at first, they'd likely only affect new applicants. But one thing’s for sure - we won’t stop fighting for you, and pushing for a fair benefits system ✊ You can also read the letter in full on the Scope website ➡ https://lnkd.in/eYBRNDW4

    • This image is a full copy of the letter to the Chancellor. The copy is too long to include in LinkedIn's alt text so in our caption we've linked to a web page on the Scope website where you can read the letter in full.

Running for Mental Health 💙 I’m running the Bath Half Marathon this March to raise funds for Bath Mind, a local mental health charity. It is my first half marathon and I am incredibly excited (but also nervous)! Why am I fundraising for Bath Mind? Mental health is something I’m deeply passionate about, and after volunteering at Bath Mind for over two years, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact they have and how truly amazing and dedicated the staff is (and it has been a pleasure to work with them, thank you Paul, David, Andy, Becky and Alison!). Sadly, their vital ‘Breathing Space’ phone line is set to close this month due to funding cuts, making your support even more crucial. If you care about mental health and want to help a local charity continue its important work, please consider donating to my fundraising page😊 Every contribution, big or small, helps! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eiT-GrUf Thank you so much for your support! #BathHalf #BathMind #Fundraising #RunForACause #MentalHealth

  • Our Counselling Lead, Cath, recently hosted sixth form student, Tyrese, for a micro placement through Not Impossible, an incredible organisation that helps young people explore their passions and shape their future. Tyrese had some inspiring words about the placement: "Thank you so much for hosting me! It was an amazing experience that opened my eyes to different aspects of psychology and counselling. This has been incredibly valuable, and I will undoubtedly carry it with me on my journey." At Bath Mind, we're proud to support opportunities like this that empower young people to discover their potential. #Mentorship #Counselling #CareerGrowth

  • 🎉 This March marks 3 years of Bath Mind’s Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Equity (EDIE) Network! At Bath Mind, we believe mental health support must be accessible and inclusive for all. Our EDIE Network brings staff and volunteers together to: 🌍 Champion best practices in EDIE across the organisation 💬 Offer peer support and a safe space for colleagues 📚 Shape policies, training, and events to be more inclusive With dedicated subgroups for BIPOC, Neurodiversity, and LGBTQ+ communities, the network continues to grow and make a real impact. Aisling, one of our EDIE Network members, says: "I joined the network because I am passionate about social change. The group is such a compassionate, empowering and safe space, providing peer support and opportunities for us to learn and evolve. Liz our Diversity and Inclusion Lead is an inspirational leader and gives us the space and guidance to reflect on our experiences and the wider world."
