FLASHBACK FRIDAY | Severn Power CCGT, Newport... Way back in 2008, Bauer Technologies was contracted to install the piled foundations for the 850MW gas-fired power generation station, known as Severn Power CCGT, working with Siemens Power Generation. At the peak of the project Bauer had six rigs on site, working simultaneously. The project was completed under budget and ahead of schedule! Great to see BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH and Bauer Foundations Canada Inc featured on GeoDrilling International website... Bauer Spezialtiefbau modernises John Hart Dam in Canada. Canadian Bauer subsidiary constructs low permeability plastic concrete cut-off wall for dam project. On the picturesque eastern coast of Vancouver Island lies the city of Campbell River, known as the "Salmon Capital of the World" and home to a vibrant ecosystem. Here, the government-owned BC Hydro and Power Authority is currently working on an important project: The seismic retrofitting of the John Hart Dam, which is used to generate power at the John Hart Power Plant, protect against floods and provide the city of Campbell River with drinking water. Bauer Foundations Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Bauer Spezialtiefbau, was tasked with executing the necessary works. FLASHBACK FRIDAY | Energy Recovery Facility, Newhaven... An Energy Recovery Facility located at North Quay in Newhaven, designed to generate electricity from the 210,000 tonnes of residual household waste generated in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove, supplying power equivalent to the energy consumption of more than 16,500 homes. Bauer Technologies scope of work included a circular shaped diaphragm wall and foundation barrettes for the facility. The diaphragm wall and barrettes were completed 3 weeks ahead of schedule! Bauer Technologies was awarded the contract to install secant and contiguous pile walls.   The works were executed within the live rail environment, within a shunting yard adjacent to the Acton Main Line. Each working day was meticulously planned around train movements, access restrictions and pile installation cycles.
