We were delighted to host Ron Keesing, Chief AI Officer at global innovation company Leidos to explore future collaborations.
Had an incredible trip visiting our Leidos team in the UK last week, diving into the impressive work they’re leading in data and AI. Among so much great work, three highlights really stood out for me: ▪️ Collaboration: We’re building an awesome partnership that taps into the The University of Edinburgh's renowned expertise in AI through the Bayes Centre, the Informatics Department, and the Edinburgh Futures Institute. I’m particularly eager to leverage their world-leading expertise in AI Ethics - stay tuned for more exciting news on this partnership next week! ▪️ Mission: Supporting the UK Ministry of Defence: Visiting our state-of-the-art logistics facility was inspiring! The team’s recent advancements in data-driven insights promise even greater performance and resilience for the #LCST. ▪️ Innovation: Our new LLM-based pilot capability for the Scottish Parliament is helping analyze public feedback on proposed legislation, emphasizing trust and transparency in our solutions. Thanks to everyone who hosted me—especially Charles Newhouse MCMI ChMC and Dr. Shirley Cavin. Seeing this work firsthand was a privilege, and I’m looking forward to all we’ll accomplish together.

We're pleased to congratulate The Earthshot Prize finalist MiAlgae on the well-deserved recognition for the work they are doing to preserve global fish stocks, with support from the university's venture investment fund, Old College Capital. MiAlgae is working to end reliance on wild-caught fish as a primary source of Omega-3 using their patented fermentation process to grow Omega-3-rich algae. This sustainable alternative takes its nutrient source from waste water from Scottish distilleries.
Andrea Young & Simon D. are delighted to be in Cape Town tonight to celebrate with our startup MiAlgae as one of The Earthshot Prize finalists! It’s been an inspirational evening hearing about all of the innovative approaches being taken to protect our planet. The University of Edinburgh couldn’t be prouder to have nominated MiAlage and supported Douglas Martin & the team as they work to keep fish in our oceans and waste out of it!
