We appreciate you joining the event Fozia and are glad that CCE have been able to help provide that space!
My role at BBC Children in Need changed to Director of Impact and Influence over a year ago (thanks in part to a suggestion from Kai Adams), and in the last few weeks I've focussed a lot, on the 'Influence' bit. But it's a weird one - is it really possible to influence the sector? To me 'influence' means to quietly and thoughtfully shape different conversations and different ways of thinking, but in a way that takes people with you. So, I've been trying to utilise my platform over the last few weeks to do that, and I appreciate the space given to me by Centre for Charity Effectiveness (CCE) , London Funders , Charity Law Association , NPC (New Philanthropy Capital) , Civil Society Media Ltd and Third Sector. Things I've discussed: ✅️How we all need to consistently use the language of social justice. ✅️ How funders need to evolve to leverage all their assets including their ability to convene. ✅️ How we should be moving from transactional to Transformative Philanthropy (of course!). ✅️ How funders need to collaborate more - get past 'Egos, logos and silos'. ✅️How we are only going to see social change if we fund and build more complex social movements. Also, other speakers I've heard for the first time and been really impressed with on my travels; Rachel Coldicutt, Natsayi Sithole Mohammed Afridi Sonal Sachdev Patel Benaifer Bhandari - book them for your next event. And of course, Dr Sarah Hughes and Dhananjayan Sriskandarajah were brilliant but everyone knows that! Great to also benefit from the wisdom of David Knott and Sir Peter Wanless.
