  • 🌟 National Apprenticeship Week – Meet Carlo Giliberti! 🌟 It’s the final day of National Apprenticeship Week, and today we’re featuring Carlo. 🔹 About Carlo "I am currently working in the CDM department, which focuses on the safety of buildings and sites during and after the completion of their works. It has helped me understand the amount of effort it takes to keep people safe and the importance of the principal designer role in construction. I’ve really enjoyed the responsibility and collaboration that CDM offers in advocating for safe, smart, and sustainable design, and to see it firsthand by going onsite often is deeply rewarding. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by playing and watching sports, and I love exploring new places through travel." 🔹 Why Did I Choose an Apprenticeship? "I personally chose an apprenticeship so that I could experience the world of work firsthand while simultaneously furthering my studies. I love the fact that I can develop not just as a student but also as an employee by relating my studies to what I am doing at work." 🔹 How Have I Given Back to My Community? "I’m very grateful that I have been given this opportunity, and when I was given the chance to go back to Simon Balle All-through School (my old School) to inform Sixth Form students on apprenticeships and my experience, I gladly said yes. By giving more of an insight into the process as a whole, I hope that the students seriously consider it as a potential route for their aspiring careers."   #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW2024 #Apprenticeships #Construction #CDM #BCAL

  • 🌟 National Apprenticeship Week – Mia Keable 🌟 Continuing our celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, today we’re featuring Mia. 🔹 About Mia "I'm currently working in the BIM department where my role focuses on modelling projects in Revit, using the software's capability to create detailed and accurate 3D models to visualise and plan construction projects. I also comprise building manuals—essential guides with detailed information about a building's design, construction, systems, and ongoing maintenance. As my experience develops, I hope to take on more projects myself." 🔹 Why an Apprenticeship? "I chose to do an apprenticeship because I’m a hands-on person who learns best through practical experience. This apprenticeship has allowed me to learn whilst working a full-time job, giving me valuable insights into the world of work and helping me develop professional skills that are key for my future and progression." #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW2024 #Apprenticeships #Engineering #BCAL

  • 🌟 Happy National Apprenticeship Week! 🌟   At BCAL, we’re celebrating by showcasing our five apprentices. Each day, we’ll introduce one of them and share their experiences.   First up, meet James Barrett, a Degree Apprentice Civil/Structural Engineer:   🔹 About James "I currently work within the Structural Engineering department, balancing full-time work with one day a week at Coventry University.” “My role involves assisting engineers with parts of their jobs, gaining experience, eventually being able to take on jobs by myself. I do a lot of modelling and some basic calculations. I will often accompany one of them on site for visits and surveys too." "Outside of work, I enjoy playing rugby, going to the gym, and playing guitar."   🔹 Why an Apprenticeship? "I chose to do an apprenticeship because I knew I didn’t want to go to Uni, after looking around some I didn’t feel as if it was for me. An apprenticeship felt like the right path for me to take, both on a personal level but also for my career. I met BCAL through a careers fair at my school and applied for the job here.” “The apprenticeship allows me to work on live projects, learn from experienced engineers, gain industry knowledge whilst also receiving a degree, and enjoy flexible working between the office and home."   #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW2025 #Apprenticeships #Engineering #BCAL
