Water has now broken through from the River Tees into the South Bank Watercourse, which is designed to manage surface water run-off from the 90-acre SeAH Wind facility and future developments on South Bank and Dorman Point. HLA Group rises with £1.2 million baker work “Our system not only meets COSHH regulations but also reduces energy costs by recycling both air and heat, eliminating the requirement for an additional heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.” Boldon-headquartered mechanical services firm Hla Services Limited has risen to the challenge with a £1.2 million bakery contract, having designed, built and installed a dust extraction system for the “UK’s largest high street bakery chain”. Airport unveils ‘landmark’ cargo hub “AirLink is a landmark development that could create high-quality jobs, generate millions for the local economy and unlock new opportunities for businesses.” A major cargo development at Newcastle International Airport is set to create thousands of jobs and inject up to £165 million into the North East economy each year. The 750,000sq ft site, now officially named AirLink, will serve as a key hub for cargo operators, freight forwarders and ground handling agents. Unveiled at MIPIM, the four-day global real estate conference held in Cannes, France, AirLink was one of several North East development projects showcased to investors, with the airport, in partnership with Newcastle City Council and Invest Newcastle, helping shine a spotlight on “the North East’s vast potential”. Retired GP to run 88 miles for Derwent Hill “Experiences like Derwent Hill can have an extremely positive, profound and long-lasting effect on young people, like it did me, and so it would be great if I can raise enough money to send a class of school children from Sunderland to enjoy this amazing place.” Dr Julie Carter, a retired GP and renowned fell runner from Keswick, is set to run 88 miles from Keswick to Sunderland to raise £10,000 for Derwent Hill, a life-changing outdoor activity centre, where she found her passion for running and mountaineering as a teenager. Julie, born and raised in Sunderland, is aiming to fund a five-day residential stay at Derwent Hill for 30 young children who would otherwise miss out due to financial pressures.
