At BeaconHouse Events, we’re committed to making the events we work on inclusive and accessible for all. As part of this commitment, last week our Project Coordinator, Alice Adams, attended Proud Allies Training with Curious Arts and Northern Pride. Since the session, Alice has shared valuable insights with our team on how we can further embed inclusivity into our events. Some key takeaways include considering the review of policies and documentation to ensure our language is non-gendered, opening space and opportunities for people to share their pronouns if they wish, and above all; taking responsibility for our learning and being mindful of assumptions and biases. We're always learning and growing, and we're excited to keep building welcoming environments for everyone!

It was a privilege to support NorthStandard in bringing their vision for International Women's Day to life in their fantastic quayside office. The discussion on gender parity was powerful and inspiring, and we're committed to creating events that spark meaningful change. We're proud to have played a role in facilitating this important conversation. Thank you Mari Watson #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #GenderParity #EqualOpportunities
International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 8 March, was marked by NorthStandard yesterday with a breakfast panel event on the topic of gender parity, with event production by Beaconhouse Events. Our guest speakers Kathryn Morgan (NorthStandard board director), Dr Vi Parker (Behaviour Matters Project Lead at Newcastle University), and Jen Toll (co-founder of Festival of The Girl) created a fascinating discussion prompted by the question: “How do you achieve gender parity: Are equal opportunities enough?” We thank our speakers, colleagues and guests who attended and got involved with such an insightful conversation. We truly hope that action towards gender parity is accelerated so that an equitable world is achieved much sooner than predicted, and that we build a society where girls and women can thrive now. #InternationalWomen’sDay #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #GenderParity #EqualOpportunities"

Are you a vegetarian? How many times do you think you've been served mushroom risotto at an event? Times-they-are-achanged. It's just not funny and it's not smart to eloquently describe your meat offering on a menu and leave the vegetarian and vegan option listed as just that... 'vegetarian option'. Everything on a menu deserves to have a name and the same level of attention to give guests a fair and inclusive choice. For a long time we've been given the information we need to make calorie informed choices, we're making moves to ensure that carbon informed choices are the next standard. We want as much information as possible to appear on menus to make sure our catering options are future proofed. We have a few thoughts on how the scene of catering at events is changing, has already changed and where we'd like to see things going. Food is always great fuel for discussion when it comes to delegate experience, share your thoughts. https://lnkd.in/eQtDrMVu

Are you heading to International Confex this year? We never miss it! Well...we haven't been to all 42 of them, but we certainly haven't missed one for the ten years we've been operating. For us, it's an opportunity to step away from the office and immerse yourself in an industry that never skips a beat! There's always an innovation, a concept, a practice or a voice to be heard and Confex makes sure that those with something to say have a platform to say it. Every year we engage new suppliers, meet new venue hosts, extend our networks and leave with a significantly higher step count and a brain full of new ideas. However, 2025 is the first year we'll be taking to stage - a new way for us to experience Confex! Sarah Thackray has been invited to present a case study on 'what is a good festival?' if you're free at 13.00 on Wednesday 26 February, head to the 'Association and Corporate Event Theatre' to ask those burning questions and learn from our tried and tested (and award winning!) approach to producing large-scale impact for good. Very much looking forward to connecting with new collaborators and catching up with some regular, trusted influences in our world of events. We're bias, but there's a LOT to love about Newcastle... Its warm welcome, vibrant culture, and impressive event infrastructure make it a standout destination for any event. As an agency based in the heart of the city, we know first-hand the benefits of hosting events here, from cost-effective venues to strong transport links and a commitment to sustainability. The North East offers world-class facilities alongside unique spaces that leave a lasting impression on delegates. The city’s compact size makes it easy to explore, whether it’s discovering local history, enjoying the buzzing food scene, or taking a short trip to the coast. Its growing reputation as a hub for creative and tech industries also makes it an exciting backdrop for innovative events (enter TechNExt...!) We're working hard to make sure the North East can sustainably support our wider ESG strategy. We’ve built a supply chain of venues, suppliers, and partners who prioritise ethical and environmental responsibility, ensuring that events align with commitments without compromising on quality. With lower costs than other major UK cities, an unbeatable atmosphere, and a reputation for delivering events with impact, Newcastle is a strategic and memorable choice. But don't take our word for it, book yourself a trip to the Toon and use our blog as a guide to make the most of your experience... https://lnkd.in/eXa_4zJ2 NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau NewcastleGateshead Initiative Newcastle Helix Newcastle Castle Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art Tyne & Wear Metro Newcastle International Airport

Why were we recognised as one of the UK’s Top 30 Most Sustainable Event Agencies? The Power 30 Most Sustainable Agencies UK list, compiled by eventdecision ® and micebook, highlights agencies that prioritise sustainability across their business operations and client events, and quite frankly that's exactly what we aim to do with each and every one of our events. Absurdly we are the only agency headquartered in the North of England to make the list! But we're working on making sure our efforts and the commitment of the team to deliver measurable and impactful sustainable outcomes is shared so we can lead others in our journey for a responsible industry. A journey we believe should be inclusive, supporting suppliers and clients to improve rather than demanding costly accreditations. By working together and sharing best practices, we aim to create a stronger and more sustainable future for the events industry. This year, we are continuing to drive change by implementing access and inclusion audits for events and expanding our supply chain initiatives. Well the only thing better than being shortlisted once for the Conference News Agency Awards 2025 is being shortlisted twice! Two categories that mean a lot to us, 'The Event Influencer Award' (Sarah Thackray) and 'The Sustainability Pioneer Award' which kind of speaks for itself, but for us this is EVERYTHING, a recognition of the toil the whole team have put in to devising new and innovative ways to focus on tangible regional impact rather than bold, unachievable statements for carbon offsetting. Thanks to everyone that has helped us on our journey, including all the suppliers that have already signed our Sustainability Code of Conduct and the speakers and clients that have influenced and let us run with our pioneering ideas! Co-Founder, Director, esteemed leader and all round wonderful human Sarah Thackray has been shortlisted in 'The Event Influencer' category for the upcoming Conference News Agency Awards 2025! Perhaps no surprises, the nomination heavily focused on the sustainability leadership Sarah has shown in driving meaningful change to positively influence the mindsets of attendees, clients and the wider industry to make more carbon conscious choices that feed into the wider BeaconHouse Events ESG strategy. We're previous winners of the 'Client Team of the Year' category, so fingers crossed to add to our trophy cabinet!
