What a wonderful day 😍😍😍 As a self-employed trainer and facilitator I am often working alone developing training and delivering workshops, but today I got to work with these wonderful women. We are developing training as part of the South London Listens community project- working across several boroughs to promote recovery, prevent mental ill-health and find solutions to the most pressing challenges. We are creating training focused on schools and the role they can play in the community to meet the increasing challenges around children and young people's mental health. Loved reading this feedback after the Online Youth Mental Health First Aid course I ran for the organisations in Newham who work to provide Holiday Activities and Food across the borough. So grateful to Caroline Oakley and Esther Baker for thinking of me when they wanted to deliver this work, I have 2 more courses with the rest of the Youth Empowerment team and a day of safeguarding with the HAF team. Bring it on!

What a fantastic Day 2 of Mental Health First Aid training with the first batch of the Youth Empowerment Team and representatives from the charity Be Heard As One. I am delivering 4 sets of YMHFA over the next few months for staff in Newham who are working on the frontline with children and young people in Newham. The 2 day course has been rich in discussion, exploration and reflection and I can't wait to work with the rest of the team! Youth workers and grassroots charities are absolutely on the frontline when it comes to being where the young people are, recognising their needs, and working in a flexible way to help them overcome the challenges they face and reach their potential. Hearing many of the discussions over the 2 days filled my heart with joy and hope for the future in the way the teams are showing up for their young people whether that is in the Youth Zones, in Youth Participation or the Detached team working out and about in the community. This work is central to ensuring our young people are able to thrive, not just survive.

So proud of these young people. I delivered a 2 hour mental health awareness course with them and they blew me away! Their insight, their reflection, their empathy. Better than many of my adult participants! I love working with Altr Rise college as a tutor, coach and trainer because I get to spend time with young people who have faced so many challenges and still come back fighting 💪🏻 💙 ❤️ They are inspirational. What a brilliant 2 days delivering Youth Mental Health First Aid for @Tottenham Hotspur Football Club Such a pleasure to spend time with a passionate group who have the wellbeing of their young people at the heart of their work. We had some brilliant discussions around the challenges of balancing the pressures of high performance sport and wellbeing. Really interesting to consider what an organisation can and should do to ensure they get the best from players whilst also looking after them. Had some great feedback, which always makes it worth it. "Well presented and engaging" "Fantastic deliverer. Made it relevant to our environment, kept it really practical and engaging and gave real life examples" "The pace of the course was perfect for my learning and the use of the fidget toys to help concentrate is something I will take away to use with my players" "Becky's knowledge was strong, she made the 2 days interesting and her lived experience of working with young people was clear" "I'd done the course before and parts were tough to stay engaged with because it was PowerPoint overload. Today has been a brilliant day 😍😍😍 I feel so lucky to be part of the What's The Debate? LTD team and some of us met in person for the first time today. Not only do I get to work with amazing people but we all get to do important work ensuring young people have the knowledge and understanding they need around sex and relationships. Today is an exciting day! It has been 2 years since I finished one of the most amazing experiences in my career - the ZINC venture builder. Not only did I learn a huge amount from all the fabulous entrepreneurs and organisations we were linked up with, but I also met some wonderful people. Emma Trinder and I made a really strong connection on the first day of Zinc and have kept in touch ever since and so I am excited to announce that we have finally found the time and project that we want to work on together. Enter ThinkCYP - our new CIC which has been officially registered today 😍 ThinkCYP is going to be bringing the learning from my work in education and mental health and Emma's work with Co.lab Education to consider how we can get mental health education into the mainstream curriculum. We are starting with a project involving English teachers to explore, develop and deliver high quality resources that cover key areas of mental health education whilst also meeting the subject curriculum requirements. Delivering for Innerscope today - working with some fantastic Year 9 students. I am always in awe of their ability to reflect on their own progress when they are given the time and space. I can't believe it has been a year since I started working with Innerscope I knew as soon as I met James Aidoo and Naomi Aidoo that they were my kind of people with the same values and passion for working with young people. It seems fitting that tomorrow I will start my 5th cohort at Mark Rutherford school in Bedford. I will have the honour of working with a group of Year 9 students and helping them to find their potential and confidence in themselves. 1 year down and here is to many many more

Some fantastic discussions have already taken place. 🤩🤩 Looking forward to the next 2 days of training. Snacks sweets and fiddle toys are essential for face to face sessions.
