Corporate insolvencies fell month-on-month and year-on-year in May, but numbers were still almost 50% higher than they were pre-pandemic, according to new figures from The Insolvency Service. Personal insolvencies saw a slight yearly increase, but fell by 15.7% from levels seen before COVID. Commenting on the statistics, R3 President Tim Cooper of Addleshaw Goddard said that a number of short and long-term issues were continuing to affect businesses, but with the economy growing in the first quarter of this year and predicted to grow again in the next quarter, the tide may be about to turn for the better. Despite this, he noted that the business climate remains challenging and urged anyone facing financial difficulties to seek advice as soon as possible.
