The challenge is even greater for those of us who are also parents, striving to be present for our families while ensuring our businesses thrive.   Maintaining a healthy work-life balance isn’t just about reducing stress—it’s about improving overall wellbeing and productivity (and possibly reducing the nagging from family members!).   Here are a few friendly reminders to help you get through the holiday season:   ⌚Set Boundaries: Establish clear work hours, and stick to them. Let your team know when you’re unavailable so you can focus on family time.   💻Delegate Effectively: Trust your team with responsibilities. Delegating tasks allows you to focus on high-level decisions while freeing up time for personal commitments.   ☺️Prioritize You (just for a little bit 😉): Schedule time for yourself. Whether it's a hobby, exercise, or just unwinding, self-care is crucial for long-term success both at home and in the office.   🛫Plan Holidays Ahead: Anticipate your busy periods and plan your holidays around them.     ❓In light of the current civil unrest across the UK, it's essential for managers to provide clear, compassionate, and supportive communication to their teams. But how can you do this effectively? 🤔 Crisis events can directly or indirectly affect employees’ safety and wellbeing. It is important to act quickly and to determine whether emergency or business continuity arrangements need to be triggered. Here are some steps that you can take to help your employees and colleagues: Ensure open communication channels 📖 In times of crisis, it’s vital to maintain clear and open lines of communication, providing information about the developing situation, any plans that are put in place, and how to access further support or information. Recognise the uncertainty, stress and anxiety that people may be feeling. Keep your team informed about any measures the company is taking to ensure their safety. Regular updates can help mitigate uncertainty and provide reassurance. Temporary flexible working arrangements 🏠💻 If employees feel unsafe traveling to/being at work, consider allowing them to work from home. This flexibility can alleviate stress and help maintain productivity. Utilise employee assistance programs (EAPs) ☎️ Direct employees towards your company's EAPs, which can provide support for stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. If you do not have an EAP, signpost to relevant organisations for support. Remind them that these resources are available and confidential. Promote wellbeing Encourage employees to take care of their mental and physical health. Share resources and tips on managing stress and maintaining well-being during these times. Remember, your support as a manager can make a significant difference in how your employees cope with these challenges. Equally, make sure you put look after yourself too.     Well Covid has absolutely done me in over the past week and a bit, but I'm glad to say that I'm back at it. Whilst coughing and spluttering, I found myself feeling guilty for not keeping up with my social media... HOW CRAZY IS THAT! So no, I haven't been posting and not really keeping up with it because I decided I needed a break to focus on client work and get myself back to health again. So people, please hear me when I say I understand how frustrating it can be to step back, but sometimes, social media can blooming well wait.
