On #WorldMenopauseDay, it’s important to shed light on the overlooked challenges faced by people experiencing menopausal symptoms, affecting both their personal and professional lives. A recent WeAreTheCity article highlights the fact that there are over 6.5 million menopausal women in the UK workforce, and almost 1 million menopausal women have left their jobs due to inadequate support. We know that trans and non-binary people can experience menopausal symptoms due to changes in hormones. And it's likely even harder to have discussions about this at work. All evidence that much more needs to be done to support menopause in UK workplaces. We’re encouraged by the proposed policy that would require larger companies (250+ employees) to produce yearly Menopause Action Plans. Let us know your thoughts on this important issue 👇 #perimenopause #menopause #menopauseintheworkplace #diversity #inclusion

We’re passionate about creating workplaces where people thrive. And let’s face it, motivation is one of the main fuels that drives optimal performance. But, in today’s world, it's very easy for tedious and repetitive processes, lack of feedback and inspiration to turn into disengagement at work! Not only does this impact employee wellbeing, but it can also impact your organisation’s bottom line. That’s why today, we’re sharing some key takeaways from a People Management magazine article on how leaders can create a culture that sparks motivation and keeps employees engaged: 🪇 Shake things up. Challenge norms, give employees more autonomy and encourage creativity to prevent boredom. 🥇 Recognise and reward. Listen to what motivates your people, celebrate wins and show your team they’re valued and appreciated. 🪟 Be transparent and clear. Ensure everyone knows the company’s goals and their role in achieving them. 🙌 Manage effectively. Provide support, guidance and constructive feedback. 👂 Listen and communicate. Create an open dialogue where employees feel heard and valued. 🌟 Prioritise wellbeing. Support your people’s mental and physical health through communication and role modelling positive behaviours. Let’s face it, work can take up a big chunk of our lives. That’s why it’s so important to prioritise our wellbeing in this environment. This week is International Week of Happiness at Work and it's been said a whopping 27% of employees experience at least one bad workday every week. That’s why there's a huge focus on sparking conversations on how we can prioritise happiness at work. In the UK this year, the Office for National Statistics has reported: ▶️ 9% of adults rated their happiness low. ▶️ 23.3% experienced high levels of anxiety. ▶️ Only 60% are satisfied with how they spend their time. ▶️ Just 70.8% are satisfied with their main job. Did you know that World Gratitude Day has been celebrated on the 21st September - coinciding with the Autumn equinox - every year since 1963? And that it was originally intended to serve as a secular, global Thanksgiving? 🙌 What better time to explore gratitude through a Positive Psychology lens? 🤩 A systematic review and meta-analysis of 64 Randomised Clinical Trials (RCT) published in 2023* found that: ✅ "Acts of gratitude can be used as a complement for treating anxiety and depression," ✅ "And can increase positive feelings and emotions across the general population." This shows that feeling grateful or expressing gratitude can make a big difference not only to people with poor mental health but to every single one of us.... What are you grateful for today? 🌟 *Diniz G, Korkes L, Tristão LS, Pelegrini R, Bellodi PL, Bernardo WM. The effects of gratitude interventions: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
