It’s our 20th anniversary this year. 🎉 💦We’re extremely proud of all the work we’ve been doing connecting communities to their local rivers, improving blue spaces for people and wildlife, advocating for healthy waterways and engaging nature enthusiasts. 👥In the past year, we had more than 12,000 volunteers involved in our events and activities; spoke to more than 3,800 school pupils; and delivered many training sessions and river restoration schemes to improve flood resilience, biodiversity and water quality. 💙We want to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers, partners and supporters for their key role in enabling our work. 🤝Here’s to 20 more years of protecting and restoring the River Thames and its tributaries and engaging local communities to strengthen their relationships with our rivers. Join our volunteer events, citizen science programmes, or training sessions to help our mission and become a river steward! #thames21 #20thanniversary #volunteer #riverrestoration

Resilience in the Face of Adversity – Lessons from Natalie Campbell MBE I recently had the privilege at the Technology for Marketing Expo of interviewing Natalie Campbell MBE, co-CEO of Belu Water and an independent candidate for the Mayor of London election this year. Her story is a masterclass in resilience, facing setbacks and turning them into success. At just 15, Natalie knew she wanted to be a CEO. After university, she took the entrepreneurial leap and bought a franchise—but when the parent company went under, she was left with debt and had to work multiple jobs to rebuild. But that didn’t stop her. Over the years, Natalie became the co-CEO of Belu Water, built several successful companies, she has advised governments, global consultancy firms, and even royalty. She’s proven that the toughest setbacks can set the stage for the most extraordinary successes. Yet one of her toughest battles came this year when she ran as an independent candidate for Mayor of London. With no major party backing and £25,000 of her own money funding the campaign, she fought a battle against candidates with hundreds of thousands in their war chests. She was often not given the platforms she deserved and faced criticism on social media (but much more love I should add). Day after day, she put in long hours, relentlessly pushing forward. There were moments when rest seemed impossible, but she kept going. The result? She secured the most votes of any independent candidate, 47,815 votes, a third of the votes that the Liberal Democrats, with a much larger budget, received. Her journey as a candidate was exhausting and mentally taxing, but it taught her one thing: resilience is built in the toughest times. If you’re struggling right now, it might not feel like it, but you are building something invaluable. Every long night, every setback, and every bit of doubt is shaping you into someone who can handle anything. Here’s what I’ve learned from Natalie’s story: • Resilience comes from refusing to give up, no matter how overwhelming the odds. • Strength is built when you push through criticism and keep moving forward. • Problem-solving turns setbacks into stepping stones for success. But perhaps the most important lesson is this: In struggle, we find our power. Natalie’s story proves that even when you feel the world is against you, persistence pays off. So, if you’re in the thick of it right now, remember—you’re not just enduring hardship; you’re developing resilience, and this time could be the foundation of your future success. #Leadership #Resilience #NatalieCampbellMBE #Entrepreneurship #tfm
