About us

BeMoreDigital is an online learning space for people working in charities and social enterprise looking to improve their digital skills. But, what is 'digital'? Digital is about the ways of working and the ideas behind the internet. Through a mixture or free content, pay what you can events, and a six week online course (plus some shorter courses coming soon) you will gain confidence in your ability to work more digitally. Who is it for? It's not just the 'digital team' (if you have one) that needs to have digital skills. These are the skills of working well in today's world. The lessons, events and courses will equip you with the theory you need and support you to put it in to practice in your day to day.

    📣 A bitter sweet announcement from Bobi, Aliya, and Sue... At BeMoreDigital, we are all driven by the tangible impact on the individuals and communities we have helped to manifest through our work. In a few short years we've helped to develop support programmes with funders, supported close to 2000 people through mostly free workshops, and created more free templates than we can count. We understand that the dedicated people working in the charity sector are the backbone of positive change and by supporting them on their journeys, we play a tiny part in creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond our immediate reach. Small charities and social enterprises operate on shoestring budgets. Fact. These organisations provide essential services to society's most vulnerable members. From food banks and homeless shelters to mental health counselling and addiction recovery programs, they work so hard to address complex social and economic challenges in a tough landscape. Their profound impact goes largely unrecognised despite the magnitude of the challenges they take on. Yet, their small size allows them to be more agile and responsive to the changing needs of their audiences. They often forge deep connections within the communities they serve, building trust and offering personalised support that larger organisations may struggle to provide. Despite their resource limitations, these incredible organisations demonstrate immense resilience and creativity. They find innovative ways to maximise their impact through collaboration, resource sharing, and a deep understanding of local needs. However, to truly reach their full potential, they simply need more support. Increased funding, access to training and development programmes, and improved visibility are all critical for their long-term sustainability. As a small organisation ourselves, we are not immune to the challenges that face our clients. We too are under a financial burden that is currently too great to bear. As such, BeMoreDigital as you know it right now, will cease on April 30th 2024. We have always worked to support small charities, and to help bridge the digital skills gap that we know exists in this sector.  We want to send a heartfelt thanks to all our clients and supporters who’ve taken a chance and cheered us on, including (but definitely not limited to) Alexandra Fearon, Tereza Litsa, Vic Hancock Fell, Tom Watson, Ross McCulloch, Zoe Amar FCIM, Pauline Roche, Sona Mahtani, Fergus Arkley FRSA, Ed Howarth, and so many more!

    Another step closer to the official closing of BeMoreDigital has been the creation of a landing page and closing of the website. We wanted to make sure that the free templates we created were simply and easily accessible - I will be talking to a few supporters about hosting them there too - and so I built this very simple landing page to keep our story alive, and to in some way continue to share our support for the sector. https://bemore.digital/

    So, yesterday did something new and went litter picking with a fabulous community group in my area called Rubbish Friends (great name isn’t it? 🤣) It’s so sad that volunteer groups have to be put together to tackle this huge problem - there’s certainly not enough help from government any more to keep our towns beautiful, but what an amazing bunch of people they were! Hard-working, determined to look after our planet, and friendly we had a fabulous couple of hours armed with bags, gloves, hi-vis and litter sticks. We chatted, we competed to see who could find the funniest piece of litter (a man who found a hymalayan salt lamp was declared the winner!) and we tidied up 25 bags of recycling, and sadly a fair few bags of landfill too. I’m astounded by the amount of vaping equipment that gets thrown away. I was completely blown away by the coming together of people from different walks of life to solve this problem together. It really works and it feels great too! 💪🏻 We are available this week for all charities, non-profits and social enterprises to get together with us, to solve any problem you are facing. From better systems, to working practices, learning new ideas or updating old ones. We want to help you!     Yesterday afternoon Bobi had a coaching session with Sara who had some questions abut why emails sent from both their working inbox (managed through Gmail) and their newsletter (managed through Mailchimp) were going into people's spam. Here's a plain English explainer as to why this could be happening... Most of the time the reason for this is the need to verify the domain that your sending the email through. Think of domain verification as proving you own the house your email is coming from. Imagine You're sending a letter from your house (your domain). The letter might get lost or thrown away if the receiving post box doesn't trust that the the postman (email server) is carrying the letter for you. Domain verification puts a special sign on your mailbox (adding a record to your domain's settings) so that every letter box knows their letter have actually been sent from you. This sign has a code only you can get from the postman (email service). The receiving letter box (inbox) sees the sign and code, confirms it's your house, and delivers the letter (emails).

Millions of us up and down the country will be mucking up that first attempt - tossing it out rather than up.... 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 - 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: Sinek - "Don't try and serve up the THIRD pancake FIRST" In other words, you have to go through the motions of the first and second attempt before things come together.
