#EMM2024 #Ethiopia has officially wrapped up at Bio and Emerging Technology Institute - BETin! 🎉 The #StrigaSmartSorghum for #Africa project brought together two incredible weeks of hands-on #biomanufacturing training: 🧬Week 1 – Participants achieved 100% efficient PCRs with miniPCR bio (again!), mastered DNA visualisation and assembly, and induced #protein expression. The Enzyme Manufacturing Masterclass culminated in the in-house production of DNA Polymerase 🥳, thanks to Open Bioeconomy Lab and USAID! ✂️Week 2 – With the support of the Grow More Foundation, the Advanced EMM had participants delve into #CRISPR technology and #protein purification. The sessions were filled with excellent brainstorming and discussions, leading to the successful cloning of guide RNAs! And guess which enzyme we used to perform our colony PCRs… 🤩 Additionally, we enjoyed a fantastic social day out at #Entoto Natural Park, and were warmly welcomed at #Kuriftu Restaurant, despite the rain. 🍽️🌧️😊 These two weeks were an unforgettable experience for all, filled with learning, bonding, and great moments. Thank you to all enthusiastic participants and incredible trainers for making this workshop a huge success. 🌟🥼🧬 Special thanks to BETin, and also to ISAAA Africenter, Kenyatta University and Addis Ababa University.

We are excited to be back at Kenyatta University facilitating EMM2024 🧫🧬, the 2nd Enzyme Manufacturing Masterclass, alongside our partners! Nearly 30 participants are levelling up their hands-on experience on this one-week long course, in #DNAassembly, #protein expression, #opensource reagents & #biomanufacturing - stay tuned!
📸 Participants take part in the 2024 Enzyme Manufacturing Masterclass at Kenyatta University. The week-long training is meant to equip learners with skills to navigate the challenge of a dearth of reagents, high cost of enzymes and inability to commercialize their work. The first of such trainings, the 2023 EMM, was a success, and Dr Jenny Molloy Executive Director, Beneficial Bio/Trainer, SSSfa, called her students “very qualified, highly enthusiastic” at the end of the course. #MyScienceStory #StrigaSmartSorghum
