Sharing skills, experience and knowledge with Berkeley Foundation charity partners is one of the ways Berkeley Group Plc colleagues can have a lasting impact on individuals and our local communities. Eleonora Trikalioti trikoloti from Berkeley St George has worked with our #CommunityPartner St Giles to provide mentoring to one of their staff, helping to maximise their professional potential. Eleonora comments: “One thing I realised was the power of active listening and empathy in a mentoring relationship. I found that by truly listening and understanding my mentees perspective, I was able to support them in a more meaningful way. This impacted my own personal growth too.”

Building a society in which every young person can thrive
About us
The Berkeley Foundation works in partnership with brilliant front-line charities across London, Birmingham, and the South of England to help young people and their communities to have the tools and resources they need to thrive. We develop long-term partnerships with voluntary sector organisations in five key areas: 📍 A safe place to call home 📍 Journey to employment 📍 Health and wellbeing 📍 Youth leadership 📍 A resilient voluntary sector Berkeley Group provides core funding for the Foundation, and also pays our overheads. This means that every penny raised for the Foundation can be spent directly on charitable activities. In addition, Berkeley Group staff get involved by organising fundraising events, volunteering their time and donating through payroll giving. Each year, around 60% of Berkeley staff get involved in our work. Our 2030 strategy is called A Force for Change. You can read it on our website.

We care about money – do you? It’s #NationalCareLeaversWeek and our #StrategicPartner MyBnk has been busy promoting its latest research about the financial struggles care leavers face. We’ve supported this research over the last three years, and it’s revealed alarming statistics: 67% of care leavers feel anxious about money, and 80% want more help managing their finances. MyBnk has distilled the findings into a brilliant animation. You can also read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/gjbQebSZ

Every Christmas, our Strategic Partner Crisis provides vital services across Britain to people facing homelessness at one of the toughest times of the year. Calling all Berkeley Group Plc colleagues to visit the Berkeley Foundation Volunteering Hub for more information on Crisis at Christmas, and to get signed up. Christmas is just the beginning of a person’s journey with Crisis. When someone walks through their doors at Christmas, it can be the first day where everything changes. The day someone gets out of the cold and feels the weight of pressure lift off their shoulders. The day someone gets help with finding a safe place to stay, employment and training. That first day can be the start of someone’s life beyond homelessness https://lnkd.in/dWWqQn5B Together we can make a difference.

This summer, The Change Foundation UK’s Young Ambassador and Street Elite Graduate Yasra, was invited to a special roundtable discussion at St James’s Palace with His Majesty The King, Idris Elba, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and young people from a range of charities. The purpose was to collectively discuss how to support young people and create positive opportunities and initiatives which can help address youth violence in the UK. As we celebrate the success of the 13th year of Street Elite, a training for work through sport initiative tackling inequalities and youth violence, we asked Yasra about her experience and motivation for campaigning: “It was an immense privilege and honour to sit beside His Majesty and lend my support to Idris Elba’s inspiring campaign, 'Don’t Stop Your Future.' I felt profoundly humbled to be part of a roundtable with such brilliant minds and exceptionally talented individuals. “The atmosphere was electric, charged with a collective passion for making a change for young people and violence. Conversations were both intense and motivating, each person contributing unique insights and perspectives. “It was a day filled with inspiration, leaving me more determined than ever to play my part in this remarkable initiative. Truly, it was an experience I will cherish forever.”
