Caring for and about you is our top priority.

About us

We provide secondary care to people living in Berkshire who are experiencing physical and mental health problems. Secondary care means that our services are more specialised than those offered by a GP. A GP's care is called primary care. Our services are purchased on behalf of the population of Berkshire by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG’s) of which there are seven in Berkshire (Bracknell and Ascot, Newbury and District, North and West Reading, Slough, South Reading Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead, Wokingham), the NHS National Commissioning Board Specialised Commissioning Board , other NHS organisations, Local Authorities, Schools and Colleges and individual patients. We are a provider of community based health services across Berkshire. Delivering care to people of all age groups aimed at helping them stay healthy and if unwell suffer the least disruption to their lives possible. Most secondary care services are based within the local community, so that people can receive treatment in an environment they're used to. Many people are supported in their own homes. This means that people can continue to lead active lives in the community while receiving the support they need for their mental health. We organise our services into six main local areas. • Newbury • Reading • Wokingham • Bracknell • Slough • Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead

By pledging, staff are standing up against discrimination and helping build a safer, more inclusive environment for all. Those who pledged received a Unity Against Racism badge to proudly display their solidarity with colleagues. 🗨️ Karla, from our EDI team, shares: "It’s been uplifting talking to people about our campaigns this month. People have shared their experiences and commitments to make us a great place to give care. These conversations make me so proud to work here because they help make inclusion a reality." #BlackHistoryMonth #UnityAgainstRacism #EqualityMatters #BerkshireHealthcare

  • Our Clinical Education student placement team hosted a learning event for the paramedic students at Oxford Brookes University this week and it has been a great success. The team organised some fantastic speakers from within the Trust and beyond and are facilitating with collaboration from OBU paramedic lecturers. • 🎉 Celebrating 20 Years of service 🎉 Gilbert, one of our Deputy Inpatient Service Managers has been part of the NHS family for 20 years! "I began my career as a support worker on the Bluebell ward at Prospect Park Hospital and became the first STR worker for the hospital, significantly enhancing support for West Berkshire patients transitioning back to community life and services. Subsequently, I was seconded by Berkshire Healthcare to pursue my BSc in Mental Health Nursing. After completing my degree, I took on various roles, starting as a Staff Nurse and advancing to Deputy Ward Manager. I then managed multiple wards as a Ward Manager before becoming the Service Manager for the Bed Management Team. Following this, I served as a Modern Matron and, since January 2023, I have been the Deputy Inpatient Service Manager for PPH." We want to thank you Gilbert for everything you have done. 20 years is an amazing achievement. 💙
