We are over the moon to be an edie Net Zero Awards finalist for Behaviour Change Programme of the Year with Sheffield City Council! BetterPoints Sheffield reduces single-occupancy car journeys by promoting, incentivising and rewarding active and sustainable travel. BetterPoints Sheffield has attracted 15,000 participants and taken more than a million car journeys off the road. It cut 830,000 car journeys in the first six months alone, saving 410 tonnes of carbon emissions – worth almost twice the cost of the programme for that period. The Edie Net Zero Awards celebrate the individuals and organisations spearheading the UK’s transition towards a net-zero carbon economy. #edieNetZeroAwards #activetravel #sustainabletransport #sheffield #BetterPoints #BehaviourChange #netzero

About us
BetterPoints has been changing behaviours in transport and health since 2010. We combine behaviour change science with our unique technology and targeted communications. Whether you want people to walk to the park, cycle to work, wheel to the shops, use public transport in town, attend an event, engage with a consultation, recycle more… BetterPoints campaigns motivate them to do it and make it engaging and rewarding. BetterPoints programmes cycle repeatedly through four key steps – Gamification, Tracking, Rewards, and Messaging – to motivate new activities until they become new behaviours. We combine rewards, technology and expertise with more than 40 behaviour change techniques. BetterPoints programmes produce masses of anonymised data to build graphs, charts and heatmaps for analysis, reporting and modelling, for example: – CO2 and NO2 emissions avoided – Transport habits – Healthy activity – Calories burned – Behaviour change We combine user-generated data (waypoints, transport modes, speed, time, duration, eligibility, rewards), with demographic data (age, gender, postcode etc) and survey responses. BetterPoints works with clients across all sectors in the UK, Europe and beyond.

World Mental Health Day 2024 Today, BetterPoints applauds the World Federation’s Mental Health 2024 theme “It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace”. New research by Deloitte (May 2024) reports that ‘Poor mental health costs UK employers £51 billion a year’. The report goes on to say ‘For every £1 spent on supporting the mental health and wellbeing of their workforce, employees get (on average) about £4.70 back in increased productivity’. There are so many key areas that impact mental health in the workplace – burnout, worrying over the cost of living, finances and job security - but also inactivity! Here at BetterPoints we continue to support and promote the impact on mental wellbeing in the workplace within our behaviour change programmes - this should not be underestimated. Walking, cycling, running, scooting and wheeling all help to burn calories, strengthen muscles and boost mental health well-being. Active travel reduces anxiety, stress and boosts mood through the endorphins naturally released. NHS England recommends 150 minutes of physical activity per week, therefore employers should actively encourage their employees to take a 20 minute walk at lunchtime; giving them time away from their desks or workstations, allowing them to connect with nature, get active and recharge for the day ahead. A worthy, and relatively low cost investment. #WorldMentalHealthDay #ActiveTravel #ActiveWorkplaces #BehaviourChange #MentalHealth

Experienced Integrated Lifestyle Service Manager, supporting in the delivery and development of smoking cessation, alcohol reduction, diabetes education, NHS health checks, child and adult weight management services.
🚀 Stoptober Launch in Buckinghamshire, Unit 33! 🚀 Today, we kicked off Stoptober in Buckinghamshire with an incredible event at Unit 33 in Aylesbury! 🎉 Myself, Tiegan Smith, Christina Hughes ANutr, Bex Topping (ANutr) and our resident stop smoking genius Linda, all went out on a mission to get as many people to think about quitting as possible! Our team handed out leaflets to loads of people around Aylesbury, all eager to quit smoking and to register with our service. Jessica Lane our marketing lead did an amazing job with this campaign, and we had people travel from all around the county because they’d heard about it on social media. 🤩 Tiegan Smith & Linda conducted 5 initial appointments on the spot, setting those individuals on their journey to quit smoking starting today! On average, the NHS saves £1500 a year for each person that quits, so every person counts! 🌟 Simon the Cigarette made his rounds through Friars Square Market, taking photos with passersby and spreading the word that support is available whenever you are ready. 📸 We also walked around all the popular hotspots in Aylesbury where people go to smoke, letting them know they can quit with our service. Christina Hughes ANutr had her binoculars out and was scouting out people smoking left right and centre and running over to them to get them to consider quitting. 🤣🕵️♀️ A huge thank you to the Totally Wicked team for their incredible support in providing vapes, banners, pens, and leaflets on time! Your contribution made a significant difference in the success of our event. Scarlett Moylan and Lisa Barnes you guys are amazing. 🙌 Big shoutout to the public health team for helping us with the equipment, and thank you so much Nicky Coote for coming down to visit us! Not a second passed Nicky wasn’t trying to get someone in to have a chat with us. 😎 And one more thing… In addition to our ongoing support, we're excited to announce that BetterPoints Ltd is offering a £50 incentive for anyone who successfully quits smoking through Be Healthy Bucks during the month of October! This is a fantastic opportunity to not only improve your health but also earn a reward for your commitment. Jess Keeley and Kerri French. 🙏 Text SMOKE for free to 60777 and one of our team will be in touch with you. 👯♂️ I survived the day, but will I survive the month in this costume? Let’s see what happens in High Wycombe. 🤣 Thank you for letting us use Unit 33 Ann Poll! 🙌 #Stoptober #QuitSmoking #CommunitySupport #Health #Wellbeing #Buckinghamshire #Aylesbury #TotallyWicked #SimonTheCigarette #PublicHealth Lauren Kerry Adam Johnson Azul Strong Corcoran Buckinghamshire Council Gemma Knott Gemma Dummett Hannah Blatchly Gareth Parry Alex Smallwood Nicky Allan Becky Powers Tiffany Burch Georgia Coates Becky Kineen

BetterPoints has been shortlisted for Healthcare Engagement Project of the Year at Team Modeshift's National Sustainable Travel Awards! 🚀 Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust' linked its staff Travel Survey with Sheffield City Council's 'BetterPoints Sheffield' programme. It's increased the survey's response rate, and now nearly 1,000 NHS staff are earning rewards such as free coffee for choosing sustainable travel options. 🚶♀️🚴♂️🚍 Laura Fish, Sustainable Travel Manager at the Trust, said: "BetterPoints has been a revelation for us as a Trust – not only the recognition of being the largest employer in Sheffield but recognised as an anchor institution. The engagement pushes us, as an organisation to do better! "I can’t speak highly enough of the app, the prizes, the inspiration and the Team – they are making behaviour change possible, when I was beginning to think it wasn’t!" Other institutions are already adopting this scalable model, proving that partnerships like this can transform travel behaviour across the UK. Dr Jo Maher, Physical Activity Champion for South Yorkshire, said: “All NHS staff should get support to make healthier, greener choices – and BetterPoints Sheffield is doing just that. "It’s also helping my PCN engage colleagues so they can experience the health, economic, and social benefits of sustainable travel.” Sam Farrington, Transport Planner at Sheffield City Council, said: “We all know about issues with car parking at hospitals – they’re big trip generators, so the innovative work that the partners have been doing is much needed.” Let's see more local partnerships like this! 💚 #SustainableTravel #ActiveTravel #BehaviourChange #BetterPoints https://lnkd.in/e6-M6XVT
