We are agents of opportunity who create architecture and interior design that balances depth with delight.

About us

Buckley Gray Yeoman are Shoreditch originals. Based in east London since the practice was established in 1997, we create architecture and interior design that balances depth and delight. We describe ourselves as agents of opportunity. We take what we find – on the ground and in the brief – and uncover unanticipated possibilities. The changes we deliver are executed with a strong sense of responsibility to our clients, but we never forget that design must also make you feel good. Our work is sensitive, thorough and authentic, but it is also unapologetically joyful and surprising. Our family has grown from a group of three friends to a team of almost a hundred, which now has collective ownership of the practice. We have also spread our geographical wings, delivering projects across the UK and Europe, each carefully tuned to its own specific place and time. Making buildings with both depth and delight demands a very special kind of studio culture. Ours promotes trust, cultivates talent and celebrates independent thought because, like all Shoreditch originals, we enjoy sitting just the right side of unconventional.

  • We're incredibly excited to share that our Technique project has been shortlisted for the RIBA London (North) Awards 2025. Working alongside General Projects - a client who shares our ambition to push boundaries - we transformed a historic printworks into something rather special. Behind the retained façade, we crafted a series of bold but considered interventions. The most striking of these was our new corner addition, where we created a public events space clad in extraordinary 'ExCinere' tiles - each one unique, glazed with volcanic ash from Mount Etna. Above this, a double-height 'town hall' space became the building's social heart. Sustainability drove our thinking throughout. Using cross-laminated timber and glulam in the new extensions reduced carbon emissions by 43%, while 10,000 sq ft of green roof enhanced biodiversity. The project achieved BREEAM Excellent - no small feat for a refurbishment. We're particularly proud of how the building serves its community. With space for over 850 people and dedicated affordable workspace for SMEs, Technique showed how thoughtful architecture could create meaningful social impact while pushing sustainable design forward. Thank you to our brilliant client General Projects, and to everyone who helped bring this vision to life. #Architecture #Sustainability #London #RIBA #AdaptiveReuse #Innovation #WorkplaceDesign

Our transformation of 22 Vine Hill in Clerkenwell is a finalist in the Light & Surface category at the Surface Design Show Awards 2025. Eschewing the clichés of warehouse conversions, we've created something altogether more considered. Working with Sterling Real Estate, we've crafted a workplace that celebrates its Victorian bones while introducing contemporary elements with characteristic restraint and precision. The material story is deliberately understated yet rich in detail - refined European Ash joinery provides a considered counterpoint to restored London stock brick and sweeping historic vaults. Light now penetrates deep into the below-ground spaces through new glass blocks, while the removal of a concrete slab has re-established the building's dialogue with Rosebery Avenue. Perhaps the most striking spaces are the six-metre-high brick vaults - remnants of the Rosebery Avenue Viaduct - now thoughtfully preserved as dramatic breakout areas. These atmospheric volumes are unified by pale Ash interventions across stairs and bridges, adding warmth and sophistication to the industrial canvas. Congratulations to the entire project team and all our collaborators. Looking forward to the awards ceremony this evening! 🤞 Photography: Matt Chisnall & Rory Gaylor Sterling Real Estate, SUFFOLK AND ESSEX JOINERY LIMITED #Architecture #Design #London #Clerkenwell #Workplace #Heritage #Craftsmanship

  • We are excited to introduce Davies House, a sophisticated workplace project in the heart of London for a private client. This 22,850 sqft workplace seamlessly blends hospitality-focused design with professional functionality. The scheme features a striking timber ribbon that wraps through the space, creating an organic, forest-like atmosphere that promotes wellbeing and calm. Key features include a guest meeting suite with flexible executive boardroom, a tech-free library space, and interconnecting floors linked by a feature spiral staircase. The design emphasises flexibility, with adaptable team rooms and meeting spaces that can evolve with our client's needs. Sustainability was paramount in our approach. The scheme incorporates FSC-certified timber, recycled materials, and demountable elements to ensure longevity. We worked closely with carefully selected partners including Knight Harwood, Cundall, and Heyne Tillett Steel to deliver this exceptional space. The material palette focuses on natural elements and neutral tones, complemented by carefully curated furniture from leading manufacturers including FRITZ HANSEN, Fredericia Furniture, Icons of Denmark and Herman Miller. Completion: November 2024 #workplace #design #architecture #sustainability #interiordesign #london

  • Delighted to share that our sensitive restoration and extension of 206 Marylebone Road has received planning approval from Westminster City Council. Our design carefully evolves this distinguished 1930s building, preserving its Art Deco character while introducing contemporary interventions that enhance its presence on Marylebone Road. The scheme demonstrates our commitment to sustainable reuse through the innovative salvage and reinstatement of the building's historic Portland stone elements. The approved design includes the restoration of the original facade and architectural detailing, complemented by new textured stone and bronze metalwork at street level. At the upper levels, generous terraced spaces create valuable outdoor amenity, while the ground floor treatment enhances the public realm along Great Central Street and Balcombe Street. Looking forward to working with our client Berkeley Estate Asset Management and the project team to bring this exciting project to life. #architecture #heritage #sustainability #london #workplace #design
