🎉 Huge congratulations to Dawn Marshall FCIM DipM for an incredible achievement, running 35 miles (56k) in just 7.5 hours whilst braving some seriously tough weather conditions – not even storm Ashley with its 60mph gusts could stop her! 🌧️🌪️ This wasn’t just a physical feat; it was done in memory of her dear friend Andrea, supporting the £20k Challenge for Rare Cancers - Cancer Research UK. Andrea’s legacy lives on, and Dawn’s determination is truly inspiring. Well done Dawn, for your commitment to this amazing cause. If anyone has any spare pennies, Dawn’s fundraising link is in the comments below! 💙💪 #TeamDawn #CancerResearch #InMemory #UltraMarathon #Denbigh
Whoo hoo I ran 35 miles yesterday! So due to Storm Ashley, Delamere Forest cancelled the first ultra – 8 hour running event - I’d booked, so I quickly figured out a back up plan ….. a 5-mile loop around my local town Denbigh which I planned to run 7 🤞 times (climb was a little less than Delamere was and on road so rough equivalent). Plan was to run a loop, have a 5-minute recharge – water, food etc, then go again. Yesterday, the weather, as predicted, was wet and windy to start necessitating a full clothing and shoe change after loop 3 and at loop 7 the wind was up to 60mph gusts… but I got it done – 35 miles/ 56k in 7.5 hours. This challenge was in memory of my friend Andrea. Before she died, Andrea asked family and friends to join Andrea's £20k Challenge for Rare Cancers - Cancer Research UK as her legacy. Her target has been smashed but we’re still raising money as to quote Andrea “I need to do something to help prevent others from going through this crap in the future.” Lots of you have sponsored me which I hugely appreciate but should anyone have any spare pennies, CRUK and I will be ever so grateful.
