  • 🎉 Big Potato is now B Corp Certified! 🌎 This means that we're now a part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact. 🌱 The B Corp certification process evaluates a company's impact on its employees, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. 🗓️ And after 17 months of this extensive evaluation, we achieved an impressive score of 99.5 points becoming one of only 1,500 B Corp Certified companies in the UK. 🙏 We couldn’t have done this without the driving force behind it all, Laura (Lo) Martin thank you for all the hard work and dedication. “We are delighted to announce that Big Potato Games is now a certified B Corp. We have always strived to be a positive, inclusive brand that brings people together through great board games.” Adam Wright Managing Director. “Navigating sustainability can be overwhelming, and the ever-increasing prevalence of greenwashing only adds to the complexity. By becoming B Corp Certified we are formalizing and improving our existing practices into official policies and processes, helping us to be even more transparent with our customers, consumers and staff.” Dean Tempest Co-Founder. 🥔 We are beyond proud to be involved in this international movement for positive change, and we look forward to continuing our progress in creating meaningful experiences and fostering a more sustainable future too!

  • Look mum, we're on the telly! 📺 We spotted ourselves on ITV earlier today... ✈️ OK Play, Sounds Fishy Travel, and Kluster Duo were featured on This Morning as part of the best travel games for every kind of holiday. 🧳 As a staple British TV show with an average of 486k daily viewers, it's fantastic to see our games getting a shoutout for their handy travel size, perfect for on-the-go and holidays. • 👏👏👏 A round of applause for our sales superstar Isobel who landed our travel games in over 300 Tesco Express stores this summer. 🧳 Last year, we kicked off our first travel campaign on our DTC channels, positioning our mini games for summer holidays and on-the-go fun, and it was a hit! We saw a surge in travel game sales through our ecomm channels, paving the way for this exciting UK retail opportunity. As a business traditionally weighted to Q4, exploring other seasonal opportunities is exciting. We had the chance to pitch an FSDU for Tesco Express stores, and our team nailed it with a top selection of our mini variants of top-performing games. Our proposal was compelling enough to win the pitch! Huge thanks to the FSDU manufacturer, the Big Potato ops team, Tesco and Isobel for making this launch a reality. 🔎 Launching in 84 stores so far as of last week, it's been great spotting our travel games out in the wild.

  • 🤝We love how games can bring people together, so we’re super pleased to be supporting The Great Friendship Project! The Great London Friendship Project is a non-profit set up to tackle young adult loneliness. ❤️ We've donated a bundle of games so they're now able to host regular games nights in a hub in South West London - bringing people together and fighting loneliness head-on. Huge thanks to Tato Kenna for spearheading our charity outreach and making this all happen. We spoke with David Gradon, founder, to share a bit more about the organisation and the board game events. “We are committed to addressing the loneliness epidemic among young adults by fostering friendship, connection, and a sense of belonging” “Being playful with a few board games and lots of friendly new people is also the perfect antidote to a demanding work week - the structured nature of games can be great if you're a bit nervous or you struggle with social anxiety.” “Our board game nights have created fun, engaging, and affordable opportunities for young people to meet and build lasting friendships.” 🚶➡️Prior to their Board Game Nights, the team always shared a love for board games and found that participants in their other events, like community walking, would often bring along games to play afterwards. This simple tradition sparked an idea - why not create their own board game nights? 📈 And so they began hosting these events at a board games café in London, utilising their impressive collections. But with the events growing in popularity, the cafes struggled to cope with the numbers. 👷 We helped them build their own collection, and with a large venue partner in Waterloo, they were able to triple their capacity and today, even with this - they are still always oversubscribed! ⭐️ It's incredible to see board games bringing people together, creating friendships, and building community.

  • It's that time again - we're TatoTalkin with Kenna Gray. What do you do at Big Potato? I work in Customer Service and Project coordination, I help  customers with any issues, manage charity partnerships, and help to coordinate projects like our Kickstarter and Game City! What's your favourite Big Potato game & why? Cards Vs Gravity - it’s so quick to set up and explain that anyone playing understands what they need to do instantly, and you can take it anywhere! What's your favourite non-Big Potato game & why? It has to be Dreamphone - it’s a 90’s/00’s game where you have a fake phone that rings to give you hints on which boy has a crush on you. It’s awful but brilliant in all the best ways, plus the ‘Who who who has a crush on you’ jingle is a 10/10. I love a jigsaw puzzle too! What’s your party trick? I don’t know if this counts as a trick, but I can move my one eye on its own. What’s your best memory at Big Potato? Definitely my first Tatofest, it was my first time meeting everyone as I live in Wales, we went glamping, played games, and had a dance floor, so much fun. How do you like your potatoes? Honey roasted potatoes are the absolute best!

  • ✈️ We have a new addition to our lineup of travel games. Given the rising demand for portable games and the success of our previous hits, OK Play and P For Pizza, both of which ranked in Amazon's UK top 10 games last year, we've made one of our all-time favourites travel-friendly... 🦎 Meet Chameleon Travel: it’s the same game you all know and love but squeezed into a handy portable tin, with 20 brand new Topic Cards to tackle. ⛱️ Now you can take your Chameleon on holiday with you and hoodwink your friends and family in paradise! You’re welcome.

  • 📣 Time for a very special Indie shoutout! We had a fantastic chat with Cardiff branch manager Rhys all about Chance & Counters, Big Potato and the board game industry… 🎲 Way back in 2016, three friends Steve, Luke, and Richard saw a gap in the market for a place that offered great board games and great food and drink - a place where they’d want to hangout themselves. After a lot of planning and a Kickstarter campaign, the first branch of Chance and Counters opened later that year and fast-forward to 2024, they have 5 branches across Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff and Leeds. Chance and Counters are all about making board games accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Their unique combination of top-notch games and an incredible food menu definitely makes them stand out from the crowd. Speaking with Rhys, he said the development of the food and drink menu has really allowed them to draw in an audience beyond board games and enabled them to collaborate with local brands such as Lost and Grounded Brewers Lt, Berthas Pizza , and NORTHERN MONK. Rhys shared that Big Potato Games “hit the tables like nobody's business", with Herd Mentality being a classic favourite. There's even an ongoing joke amongst the team about how long the pink cows will survive before they need replacing due to overzealous cow handling… 🐄 🍕 But the team's top pick is definitely P For Pizza, with Rhys expressing his love for our travel games “people are increasingly wanting to take their favourites away with them and it’s great you’ve been able to cater to that.” We asked Rhys what he enjoys the most about working in the industry is, "I just love seeing people come together over games” he says, “introducing new games to new people, especially those who think they don’t like games until they find the right one. We've even seen couples who met here on their first date come back together a year later.” Amazing! ❤️ And the best part of the industry for Rhys? “The exciting new games and toys, when something new drops its cool to see different approaches and mechanisms”. • Exciting News! Our P For Pizza range is expanding! 🍕 We are now serving up P For Pizza Kids Menu and P For Pizza Xxxtra Hot. Invented by Doruk Kıcıkoğlu and originally designed back in 2020 by the wonderful Beks, Robin has now designed two new versions that stay true to our original branding while catering to different audiences. 🧑🎨 We spoke to Robin about the design process: 🌶️ “Xxxtra hot was a fairly straightforward change from original design - making the pepperoni more red, adding chillies and peppers. There was almost some spicy anchovies!” ✏️ “For the kids version, the original P for Pizza design is already fairly kid friendly. So we needed to think about how to make it more distinct. I realised how cool would it be to make the whole game look like it’s actually from a kids menu. I created black and white line art and gave the main section that ‘‘coloured in’ feel. Fun fact: the last page of the rule book has a colouring in page too!”
