The success of SpaceX #Starship is a game-changer for BioOrbit. 💰 Pushing the cost of launch down further by at least an order of magnitude has huge downstream effects for us. 💉 Cheaper infrastructure >> Cheaper production >> Cheaper end cost >> More life saving pharmaceuticals here on Earth. Thank you SpaceX for making this (and more) possible... LET'S DO THIS! #space #inorbitmanufacturing #pharmaceuticals https://lnkd.in/eY6Dr9uH

Today, at the Cityforum Space Summit, hosted at Plexal Stratford, we had the privilege of having some insightful discussion on the future of space and its role in the UK’s national security, innovation, and economic resilience. Our CEO Andrew Roughan highlighted Plexal’s role in this landscape and how our innovation model helps mitigate risks by identifying and nurturing startups with novel solutions to space challenges and providing tailored support to ensure commercial viability and security compliance. One highlight was seeing Dr Meganne Christian FRAeS mention BioOrbit, one of our Airbus Accelerator companies, and their innovative use of space technology to improve health outcomes—a perfect example of how space can benefit society beyond traditional uses. The discussion made clear the urgent need for collaboration across sectors. Whether it’s mitigating national security risks or unlocking new commercial and innovation opportunities, Plexal is committed to solving these challenges through initiatives like our Airbus Defence and Space UK Accelerator and broader ecosystem activities. Big thanks to all the speakers and participants for an inspiring day focused on maximising opportunities and strengthening resilience in the space sector!
