We are delighted to announce that the next phase of reopening of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery will take place on Thursday 24 October 2024. The stunning Round Room Gallery, Industrial Gallery, Bridge Gallery and Edwardian Tearooms are among the gallery spaces to reopen in time for October half term week, where displays will tell the social story of Brum and the city’s global impact. The museum’s iconic Round Room will be at the heart of the reopening with new and familiar artworks back on display surrounding Jacob Epstein’s stunning bronze sculpture, Lucifer. The Industrial Gallery will reopen with a new ‘Made in Birmingham’ display, which celebrates the city of a thousand trades, its self-deprecating humour, creative people and their worldwide impact. The popular Tearooms and Shop will also reopen in October for hot drinks, a new food and drink menu and unique gift collections and collaborations with local artists and makers in the museum shop. Due to visitor demand, the Victorian Radicals exhibition of world-famous Pre-Raphaelite art will continue in The Gas Hall until at-least Christmas 2024. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eS4EMvZa

Empowering communities to create a positive change for the planet| Sustainable ambassador | Green events coordinator
I had the absolute pleasure on Friday of hosting a CPD session (Art in Nature) for educators at Blakesley Hall organised by Birmingham Museum Trust. A beautiful day of sharing my love for the planet through art. Pigments, pressed flowers and eco dyeing were a few subjects we covered but we also created wild weaving squares and made eco bricks perfect for solitary bees. Birmingham Museums Trust

We're delighted to announce that we've finalised the cohort of organisations for our Anti-racist Museums Programme, and the first programmed session will take place tomorrow, 4 June 🙌 We're excited to get to work with: • Bristol Museum & Art Gallery • Birmingham Museums Trust • Fulham Palace Trust • Migration Museum • Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales • Museums and Galleries Edinburgh The programme presents an opportunity to create meaningful change in the UK museum sector through organisational and professional development. It's our hope that it will create a thriving network of museums and leaders that are committed to personal and organisational change; collaboration and peer learning; and being at the forefront of anti-racist practice in UK museums.
