https://lnkd.in/epujqfpj It’s amazing to see how #socialmobility is getting the attention it deserves! 🙌 Next week, Blackbullion is hosting an event all about the topic – which is very timely given that they received the Small Business award at the SOMOs for their incredible work supporting scholarships in the UK for young people from underrepresented backgrounds. 🎉👏 Next Tuesday (15th October), they’ve got a packed agenda with insightful discussions lined up – including a keynote from Sarah Atkinson at the Social Mobility Foundation. There will also be interesting topics being discussed including how charities can influence social mobility, and the real impact that scholarships can have on shaping the future for so many. Social mobility is not a buzzword – it’s a priority and we need to keep pushing forward. Let’s make sure we’re sharing best practices, driving meaningful action, and, most importantly, ensuring the impact is lasting. Universities can do more to educate potential students about the true costs of study. As we open postgrad applications for the 25/26 cycle, a timely publication from Blackbullion, highlighted on Wonkhe today reminds us of the importance of providing accurate and realistic funding info to help students make an informed choice about their future study (and life) choices. I'm glad we're doing more to communicate these realities at The University of Edinburgh - but there's lots more still to do here - and across the sector. https://lnkd.in/ew5FKjuY
