  • 🎃 Spooktacular Quiz raises £2k for Blues Skies 🎃 The Halloween Spooktacular Quiz in aid of Blue Skies Charity took place Friday, 25 October. The event was organised by Lee and Gemma Watson and managed to raise an incredible £2,003.91. The money raised on the night will go towards enhancing patient care at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. On the night there was a variety of games, quizzes, raffle and even a silent auction. There was also a costume competition for the best adult and best child costume. Deanna Harvey, Communications Officer for Blue Skies said: "Heartfelt thanks to our incredible ambassadors, Lee and Gemma Watson, for putting on another fantastic Halloween Spooktacular! Your dedication and hard work continue to raise vital funds for the Blue Skies Hospital Fund, making a lasting impact in our community. We're truly grateful for your ongoing support!" Lee Watson said: “We were thrilled to see so many members of the Trust and the local community come together for a night of spooky fun and fundraising! Hosting this second Halloween quiz has been a fantastic way to support Blue Skies Hospitals Fund, a cause close to both of our hearts. We’re so grateful for everyone’s enthusiasm and generosity. We’d especially like to say thank you to the Layton Institute, Dave Ward Roadshows and Bake ‘Em by Hogarth for providing their terrific services at the event. Gemma and I can’t wait for next year’s event to see if we can beat this year’s incredible total of £2,003.91!” Thank you to everyone who attended on the night for helping to make the event a success and thank you to colleagues Lee and Gemma for their hard work and dedication organising the night.   • Job of the week: Research Assistant Practitioner (Band 4) The Research Assistant Practitioner will work collaboratively within a team of Research Nurses and Practitioners working on NIHR portfolio, commercial and academic studies within a flexible research workforce to ensure a seamless care for research participants at the trust covering a 24 hour 7 day service. The Research Assistant Practitioner will communicate with patients and relatives in regard to research participation under the supervision and guidance of the research nurse team. The post holder will assist in the collection and management of data and assist in the timely reporting of information to the relevant bodies. Flexibility is essential as the post holder may work in numerous clinical areas across the trust which will be determined by the research study workload and activity. The post holder adheres to departmental, hospital and National Institute for Health Research policies, established health professional procedures and practices. Main duties include: To assist with programmes for recruitment, enrolment, screening and retention of research subjects for all research studies and act as a lead for observational studies as appropriate in accordance with the protocol and International Conference on Harmonisation of technical requirements for Registration of Pharmaceuticals for human use (ICH) Good Clinical Practice Standards. To assist the team in the implementation of protocols in accordance with research parameters as set out by the Chief and Principle Investigators. To contribute to appropriate data collection systems for patient data and monitoring data., in accordance with the research protocol. To maintain good liaison with research subjects using excellent communication skills by telephone or face to face, in either hospital or community settings, keeping documented evidence of the same.   • Our Epilepsy nurses have been selected as some of the latest to be sponsored by the children’s charity Roald Dahl. The charity only sponsors 150 nurses across the country and now the 470 families the Blackpool team supports will benefit from the charity’s work As a result of the sponsorship, for the next three years the team will benefit from additional funding, workshops and memberships that offer peer support, mentorship and sharing best practice.
