  • Relationships At Work...How To Navigate Them Over the years, I have come to find that building tangible and worthwhile relationships is fundamental to having a successful career. Many of us work hard to accumulate certificates, accolades and neglect a very important factor, the human factor. You see, ultimately, your line manager and people who make decisions are human and they will always go with their human instincts first, no matter what intervention HR puts in. If these people don't know you or don't have a relationship with you, they are less likely to bank on you, they are less likely to give you a chance, they are less likely to speak on your behalf. Start building relationships today, it is fundamental on your career journey. This is a message from our founder, Enoch Adeyemi. Follow him for more insights for your professional growth. #Networking #CareersAdvice

Join us at TBSA 2024 https://lnkd.in/dxTBaHvQ In the heart of Scotland, a movement was born—a beacon of light in celebration of excellence by those who are usually under the radar in our community. This movement came to be known as The Black Scottish Awards, a gathering where the achievements, talents and contributions of professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives were not just recognized, but revered. These awards are more than just a ceremony; they are a symbol of a community’s resilience, strength and determination. They exist to honour those who inspire and lead, those who break barriers and pave the way for the generations to come. Each year, the call goes out across the land, inviting all to witness and participate in a night like no other. A night where stories are told, accomplishments are celebrated and history is made. The Black Scottish Awards stand as a testament to the power of unity and the celebration of diversity. They are a reminder that in the face of adversity, greatness emerges, and it is this greatness that we come together to honour.

My Purpose Is To Make Our World Better 🌿

This Is An Open Letter To All Leaders Out There 📩 Dear Leader, I hope this message finds you well. As the founder of Black Professionals United Kingdom, an organisation which has been working hard in the last decade to foster cohesive working environment in the country, I am writing to draw your attention to a pressing matter which may be affecting some of the colleagues within your organization. Recent events have highlighted the state of paranoia and fear experienced by ethnic minority employees, and it is crucial that we address this issue collectively. I understand that some of you, are unsure about what to do so I am sharing some tips around some steps and actions you and your organisation can take and I hope you find these useful. 𝟭. 𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀: First and foremost, let us acknowledge the emotional toll that these unsettling times have taken on your colleagues. The impact of social unrest and discrimination cannot be underestimated. Many of your team members will be navigating feelings of vulnerability, anxiety, and uncertainty. As leaders, we must actively listen and empathize with their experiences. 𝟮. 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀: Consider establishing safe spaces within your workplace where employees can openly share their feelings and experiences. These spaces can serve as forums for dialogue, support, and healing. Encourage open conversations about racial bias, microaggressions, and systemic challenges. By fostering an environment of trust, we empower our colleagues to express their concerns without fear of retribution. 𝟯. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 (𝗘𝗔𝗣𝘀): Enhance your EAPs to address the unique mental health needs of ethnic minority employees. Provide resources, counseling, and support networks. Normalize seeking professional help during this period. 𝟰. 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Where possible, I suggest you encourage affected groups to work remotely, take time off and do whatever they need to do to feel safe. 𝟱. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: They are the first line of defence and if we want to support affected colleagues then the line managers need to be empowered to do so. Consider arranging a speaker to speak to line managers to help them navigate this difficult times when their team members need them the most. 𝟲. 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀: Allies actively stand up against discrimination, amplify marginalized voices, and challenge harmful behaviours. Foster a culture where everyone feels responsible for creating a more inclusive workplace. The best way to do this is tone from the top and the line managers seeing those at the highest level of organisation being active allies in words and in deeds. Hopefully you find this useful and implement some or all within your organisation. Please share this widely so as many leaders as possible can get to see it. This Too Shall Pass. #Allyship

The Birth of the Young Black Future Program It all began at TBSA 2023 when a young, vibrant lady named Barakel took the stage. She shared her powerful story of moving with her family from their home country to Scotland due to conflicts and war. An experience that was soo touching and inspiring all the same. Her command of the mic and stage was nothing short of inspiring, a testament to the coaching and skill training she had received. This same transformative experience is what we aim to pass on to the next generation through the Young Black Future Program. We invite you to enroll your kids aged 11-17 and be a part of this journey towards empowerment and success. Learn more at www.youngblackfuture.com
