  • Have you ever wondered how prosthetic and orthotic technology is tested and refined? It all starts with movement, real human movement. At Blatchford, our Gait Lab is where science meets everyday mobility. We analyse how people walk, balance, and adapt using infrared motion capture, force plates, and real-world movement tracking. Why does this matter? These insights help us design prosthetic and orthotic solutions that feel more natural, perform better, and improve lives. Step inside the lab and see how we’re shaping the future of mobility. Read the full article here.⬇️

  • 💙 Blatchford Charity Committee Supports Life-Changing Prosthetics & Orthotics 💙 On Thursday, 27 February, our Blatchford Charity Committee hosted an on-site event with the Lady Zainab Foundation (LZF). This volunteer-led charity provides prosthetics and orthotics for children and adults affected by war or catastrophe. Their powerful motto, "I saw nothing but beauty," reflects the resilience and hope they bring to so many lives. Thanks to the generosity of our team, we raised £136, which will be donated to LZF, with a matched donation to LimbPower to support the amputee community further. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed! If you’d like to learn more about LZF’s incredible work, visit thelzf.org or follow them on Instagram: @ladyzeinabfoundation.

  • 👟 Help shape research on footwear choices for lower limb amputees! 👟 The University of Salford is conducting a study on footwear choices for lower limb amputees, and it is looking for participants. As clinicians, we see firsthand how important the right footwear is for mobility, comfort, and function. Now, we have the chance to contribute to research that could help improve understanding in this area. If you work with lower limb amputees, we’d love it if you could share this survey with your patients. It’s quick to complete and could have a real impact! 📩 The link is in the comments, or you can scan the QR code to take part.

  • 🦿 Heading to the clinic for your prosthetic check-up? Here’s how to make it go smoothly! To get the most out of your clinic visit, here’s what you can do to prepare: What to Wear ➡️ Choose clothing that allows easy access to your limbs for both inspection and device handling. Additionally, bring a couple of pairs of shoes that you wear often to facilitate precise adjustments as needed. What to Take ➡️ Bring all supplies and devices that are used with your prosthetic or orthotic. ➡️ Notes on any concerns or discomforts. ➡️ Bring a friend or family member for support. Be Ready for Adjustments ➡️ The clinician may test your prosthetic with some movement or walking. ➡️ Adjustments might be needed for comfort and function. Speak Up! ➡️ You are an expert on YOU, we may not know what issues you are experiencing with your device without your say so! 💡 Pro Tip: If it’s been a while since your last visit, think about any changes in your activity level to share with your clinician. 💬 Got any clinic tips? Share them with us! #Blatchford #prosthetics #orthotics #clinics #clinician #prosthetist
