Hello! I wanted to reintroduce myself as I’ve had a few new followers in the past few weeks. I am based near Easingwold in North Yorkshire, where I live with my husband, our two children and our dog, Poppy. Where does Blencathra in your business name come from? I get asked this question a lot and the answer is not as simple as because ‘Blencathra’ is the name of the house we live in. If you know me personally, I absolutely adore the Lake District. It has a very special part in my heart and has done since I was a young child. Blencathra is a fell in the Lake District, also known as Saddleback, standing tall at a height of 867m. Blencathra is one of the fells that you see driving into the Lake District on the A66 and it always makes me feel like I am coming ‘home’. One day I hope that we can call the Lake District home - we can only dream. Although our home is in fact named ‘Blencathra’ and it was named after the fell by my grandparent’s in-law when the property was built. When we moved in, apart from the name of the house, we quickly realised that there were so many links not only to the Lake District but to Blencathra, from both my family and my husband’s family. When thinking about the business name, it was a no brainer that I wanted to use Blencathra in there, for all the reasons above. Now this summer I have made a promise to myself that I am going to get to the summit of Blencathra and tick another fell off my Wainwright map. Although I have attempted to climb Blencathra a couple of times, once as a child and another with my husband but extremely bad weather made us turn around. Another week done, and what a busy one it has been! These are some of the jobs I have completed this week for my clients.
