Blind in Business
Human Resources Services
Helping blind and sight impaired young students, school leavers, graduates and undergraduates into work.
About us
Blind in Business is a charity which operates across the United Kingdom. We help blind and partially sighted students into work through our Training and Employment Services. We encourage blind and partially sighted people to identify and achieve their ambitions. Employment Services: Our employment services support students, school leavers, undergraduates and graduates with their transition from education to employment. In a good year we help 50-60 people into work. We have 30 years experience of the recruitment process and extensive knowledge of the needs of partially sighted and blind candidates. We also work with employers to help them manage the recruitment of partially sighted and blind people. Training Services: Our training services work with blind school children, their parents and teachers to raise their career aspirations. We run training days in schools across the UK working with over 100 school children annually. We provide additional support for blind children through our mentoring service. www.blindinbusiness.org.uk

It uses only the publicly available information on microsoft.com as a reference and does not answer general accessibility questions or questions about code. Sample Questions What accessibility features are available on Xbox? How do I set up my adaptive accessory hub? How do I use Voice Access on Windows? How do I make text bigger in the message list in Outlook? How do I use Word copilot with a screen reader?

Managing Director at RNIB Enterprises | Championing Business Transformation, Growth, and Inclusive Leadership for Sustainable Success
Breaking New Ground in Accessible Gaming 🎮 The gaming industry has the power to bring people together, inspire creativity, and open up new worlds. Yet, millions of people with sight loss are still excluded from fully experiencing it. It’s time for change! RNIB’s new Developer Toolkit on GitHub is a game-changer, offering tools to make games more accessible and inclusive for players with visual impairments. This toolkit provides practical guidance for developers, from designing for no-sight gameplay to integrating accessibility through the CAPS Test—Challenge, Ambience, Participation, and Story—to ensure inclusivity from the ground up. Even more powerful, RNIB’s Player Panel connects developers with 200+ visually impaired gamers who offer real-time feedback. It’s an incredible step toward a more inclusive gaming industry! By integrating accessibility into the development process, we can ensure that gaming is a space where everyone can thrive and belong. You will find links to the GitHub resource as well as to an enquiry form for our Player Panel in the comments. Huge thanks to Dean Myles, John Paton, James Kyle, Ben Breen and Sonali Rai for their vision, passion and leadership. #AccessibleGaming #RNIBToolkit #InclusiveDesign #GameDev #a11y #Accessibility #Inclusion #Gaming
A huge thank you to EGX for having us today for our talk: Cracking the Code, Designing Accessible Gaming for Everyone. We chatted about lived experience for blind and partially sighted gamers, as well as our handy Devkit and player testing panel for developers and studios. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eWMMkRQH [Our speakers sat on the Careers stage at EGX in front of a screen bearing the white and pink Design for Every Gamer logo on a black background. In the foreground, we’re holding up a flyer with the same logo on it. From left to right we have Jade Pughe who has blonde, shoulder length hair and a fringe, holding the microphone and talking to the audience. She’s wearing pastel pink cargo trousers with white and neon platform trainers and a white T-shirt with a pixelated rainbow unicorn. Next to her is Dan Northcote-Smith who has silver hair, he’s wearing all black with a logo T-shirt and khaki green trainers. Robin Spinks is in the middle wearing a black RNIB cap and T-shirt and blue jeans, reading from his iPad. Next to him is Robin Sloan who has short brunette hair and stubble. He wears black glasses and a black and grey T-shirt with grey jeans. On the right hand side is Jonny Marshall who is wearing a black RNIB cap and a blue plaid shirt over a sage green T-shirt.]
